Icon5 What are the differences between the cavalery units in etw?

if i used the difference calvary units i feel no differerences between them.

i see no faster or slower units. charging isnt so difference. lancer or swords? hussar or cossacks? it fells all the same with exception of the pole lancers.

but when i read about the cavalry here

    http://napoleonistyka.atspace.com/index.html

there are so import differences in armor, speed, counterattack-ability and so one that i ask u.:

what from the history is in the game integrated?

*which cav do u use vs other cav? for example?

    Are there differences in speed?

on youtube is a clip about waterloo- where british kürassiere attacks- after a while commands napoleon the polish lancer to attack them- and the britishs cried- "run for your live" and routs.

but is this implementet in the game?

There are some difference. You have light, normal, and heavy cavalry in ETW.

Light cavalry are Hussars and Lancers, normal cavalry is "regiment of horse", while heavy cavalry is curassiers and guard cavalry. In addition, there are some country spesific units, like cossaks and winged lancers, etc.

Light cavalry are generally faster and much more durable, the heavy cavalry gets tired very easily, but have way more defense.

Lancer light cavalry for example, have a very high charge rating, but very low defense. This makes them excellent for charging, then withdrawing after the initial charge impact. They dont have the staying power of heavier cavalry, but will devastate them in a charge.

Umm yeah cavalry are pretty different, Try charging winged hussars into the front of militia and then try it with dragoons. and then try running life guards into winged hussars and see who comes on top.
The main difference is some cavalry is to protect your flanks, as "anti cavalry" of sorts, and other cavalry exists to charge.
Theres pretty much little difference in cavalrys armor/defense though.

yes i understand, that there are different units- but with the exceptions of dragoons or polish lancers i feel not much differences that i can use it to my advantage

There arent certain cavalry with laser-cannons and cavalry that can triple-spin jump in the air if thats what your getting at, Cavalry are there to fill a specific battle niche, Not serve as unique things in their own right.
