Just some advice, if you don't want to waste time on the battle of bunker hill in RTI then just exit it. I't says defeat but then it also says that the british lost too many men so they had to retreat from the city leaving it to you. Personally i think you should have to repeat the battle if you lose but anyway for noobs just try it.

On what battle are you talking about? I am not familiar with it.

The battle of bunker hill, it is on the road to independance on one of the chapters, not sure which, you go straight into the battle with a premade army. If it helps you remember its the first time the americans attack the british, to take over some city, can't remember which

Do you mean that right at the start you begin with 4-5 units and you need to hold your ground against natives attacks? I think it is in the first chapter.

So if I know what you mean, that battle was too easy. I just gave my men the order to fire at will and they won.

Battle for Bunker Hill is in the RTI 3rd Episode, and yeah I was dissapointed that either way, winning or losing, it doesn't matter at all afterwards

    You actually won that?

I suppose it doesn't matter because historically, the British won that battle too... and we all know how that turned out in the end

I lost it the first time because my artillery was ... stupid. But I won it the second time. It seemed though that the British 'lost more' by me winning as they didn't bother me with any troops for at least 4 - 10 turns after I won the battle.

Its a historical battle your supposed to "lose" the hill.

The outcome of the battle doesn't matter as it didn't historically, the british pull our regardless of taking or losing the hill.

I won bunker hill the first time I played. It was a very close thing as I forgot my cavalry behind the hill and they were attacked by the British cavalry.

Make sure that you use your grapeshot/cannister against the British infantry. I did move the cannons a few times for some flanking shots and I also move one unit from the centre of the line to the right flank as the infantry there were about to be swamped. Don;t forget that height gives you a great advantage.

At the end I had the general and what was left of the cavalry take out the cannons on the opposite hill - maybe I should have done that from the start....

Me too. Didn't bother to try again...
I don't think I'll play RTI again either.

Those battles are there for your fun. The campaign continues whether you win them or not.

I can't lose that battle if I try to win, it's not all that hard. But I accidentally started a game of RTI and exited out to discover this. It's good to know.

/losing is of course more historical, but only if you kill a lot of redcoat officers first lol

If you win, do you get a different cutscene?

Not sure. I've heard you get veteran troops at the start of the next chapter.

The reason it continues if you lose is because that is actually what happened. The British won the battle but their losses were so significant that they abandoned the city, as the cutscene says. It's historically accurate.

I suck at large land battles so I haven't been able to win that battle, so I haven't seen the alternate scene.

Also I find the land battles tedious and get no enjoyment from them, so I just auto resolve them.

Well, it only indirectly caused them to evacuate Boston.

When Knox and Washington fortified Dorchester Heights with a bunch of cannon, they feared another Bunker Hill if they tried to remove them. So to save their fleet, they evacuated the city. Bunker Hill itself didn't directly lead to the evacuation.
