Differences between difficulties

Does anyone know what is the difference between normal and very hard. From my experiences in custom battles the difference is handicaps. In normal one unit of line infantry against another results in a close battle. In very hard the enemy unit does 15 kills per volley and your line infantry only does 5. Does anyone know if campaign is the same or what differences there are.

normal is normal, difficulties afterwords give the AI stat bonuses to their units.

I used to think that higher difficulties would improve the tactics of the AI but that does not seem to be the case.

In VH battle the AI gets morale bonus, and in VH campaign I noticed it makes tons of units, even if he does not have the money.

Yup - the AI cheats on anything above normal. They play the same way though, no new tactics or strategy.

If you want fun games that are still somewhat challenging- try hard will being outnumbered. Very hard is just totally unrealistic and ruins the feel of the game- light cavalry breaking my elite infantry on the charge, or milita taking three canister shots and not breaking. Its challening, yeah, but not fun in the least.

I guess people would be pissed if the AI wouldn't use all the smart things he can do on normal.
