Default Anyone Experience the fall of Rome in ETW?

Just wondering if anyone has made a super empire only to see the AI deystroy it later on in the game? Something like a Downfall of Rome. Or is the AI still not advanced to the point where it can do that.

    Thanks,

You'd have to be doing a lot of roleplaying or seriously regress in your ETW skills for that to happen. Just like every other game in the TW series, there is a threshold that one crosses at which you can do anything you want because the AI is simply powerless to stop you.

Generally, this is when I begin conquering countries who have annoyed me over the course of the game that until then I had simply tolerated. For example as the Dutch I had gotten so rich off of my colonial possessions and trade that I decided "Eh, what the heck, I think I'll conquer Great Britain and the 13 Colonies. What are they gonna do about it?" To lose at that point? Unpossible.

Yeah, the problem with ETW is that the threshold is reached at the moment you start your game...

its an alright his has a better vid card, mines a 9800 gt but I've got 3gb more DDR3 no reason to cream your pants.

I haven't had an empire fall, but in one game ai prussia had a large empire, but was toppled by Russia.

You would actually have to try to lose. You would need to disband your armies, declare war on neighboring states and just hit end turn until you were conquered. Otherwise no

Yes. As France I had almost all North America, and Ceylon in India, but had just fought defensive war in Europe. It was a savage war at sea between myself, GB and UP. Also I gave Alsaac to Bavaria in 1703 which kept me at peace with Austria, Prussia, and more importantly Wurtemburg.

Anyway, after 50 years Savoy decides to declare war on me, which they usually do around 1710 or so.

They were sending a full stack up towards Paris. I moved my army south to intercept the Army from Savoy which I did.

The UP then decides to send a full stack towards Paris, and we both had metalled roads so they got there the same turn. I only had Armed Citizenry. They took Paris and I was eliminated.

Now I always keep an Army in the hills above Paris, and let the south of France get raided if I have to.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH no thats not possible, the brainless AI will never be able to do that... Well maybe if you would do what Unwelcome Guest said but otherwise no.

Oh I've lost early like that, but I would argue that it doesn't satisfy the first condition. France is deceptively weak in the beginning of the game for that exact reason.

    This was 1760 or thereabouts.

It was one of my first campaigns, and I didn't have my trade route plan well organized. All my money was going to wars in North America with armies I was training in Quebec.

The Huron yet again had been raiding me for decades. They had also ambushed a full stack of mine and nearly destroyed it.

England, Pirates, and the UP were blockading my ports.

The only time that the AI has ever been a threat to me is in some of the Rome Mods.

Oh yeah, and once when the Pope when land crazy in M2:TW and united most of Europe and the Holy Land under Papal rule. Fighting him as Venice, which spanned the Eastern Europe and Asia Minor, was hard and increadbly funny. Sadly I don't have the original pics of it anymore, but this is one Kahn edited, you can see most of the states.

Its not impossible to lose. Play one of the unlockable small nations, they can be quite a challenge even with crappy and predictable AI. I lose when too many neighbors attack on like the 1st or second turn, happened like 2x.

Stompa, is that a mod, doesnt look like it. Its vanilla right? Thats insane, even when playing on VH the only factions Ive ever, ever seen do anything like that are the Timurids and the Mongols. A couple of times portugal or hungary will make a big state but they would never spam stacks like that.

Well, I always thought a Total war game should be made so that the player has to stay on his/her gaurd. I must say though, ETW -- for a vannila Version -- isnt half bad when it comes down to the AI. I cant wait for some mods for the game

Ohh, thanks for the complemets on my comp. Lol, if you really like it that much rep me (jk, unless you want to lol)
