    Default AI Raidings are annoying

Every..... single..... Damn turn when I go to war with one nation, they never, never ever, eveeeerrrr, attack my cities, only a few times because they were left undefended (to prove how bad the AI is).
What they do is that they send a fullstack of an army and raid the small towns that are partically useless (except Churches and Univerisities), while my city has only a few units.
Seriously it really annoys the crap out of me every time I end a turn, h#!!, they do it every time just to piss me off.
Whats gets me more P.O. is that they are fullstack, or at least a third of them, and they never attack my cities while they only use a quarter of there units to attack a city.
I'm playing on hard mode as Russia, and Georgia, Sweden, and Poland at war with me, and they are raiding my towns.

If you are waiting for the turn to end, only to find out your enemy is raiding a town, then another one, then another, then another one, and then your next enemy does the same thing, then yes

maybe you need to play VH/VH I have been attacked and lost/won several times. Also after leaving what I thought was a finished Austria for dead, one province only (peace treaty). Austria went on to attack Poland who I had left with 3 provinces and successfully gained another province.
Anyway I finished off Poland after they attacked me (stupid as they were already under attack by Austria) and with Austria obviously still a threat I had to take care of them.

    lol

I was saying that yes, they are supposed to be annoying.

    Perhaps better written

'Aren't raids supposed to be annoying?'

When the ennemy enters your country you are suposed to send out armies to intercept them and to prevent them from raiding, raiding is a way of luring you out in the field. Because if you don't go and fight them you cripple your economy it's a good feature to add to the strategy and it is suposed to be an incentive to prepare yourself and to think about the safety of your empire in case of war before you start wars or start pissing off people

You are playing the game wrong

Would you send an entire army to attack a town when the city is there barely defended?

The AI is retarded, as everyone knows.

Agree but atleast there is zones of control.

Use cavalry in stacks to kill off the 1-2 man artillery/militia stacks and your fine, if they throw a full stack at them then retreat.

I agree with you. They practically never attack towns, even when they outnumber you greatly, unless you have no standard military units in it.

And they go the same route too, stick army nearby for intercept if your having raiding problems

uhm. AI raids are actually pretty tactical... most of the time imo, their meant to cause economic damage to a nation. problem is if your pretty large it makes almost no difference.

Ouch, what'd you do to Poland to get them to go to war with you?

Not only are AI raiding parties annoying, they're also completely ineffective. They do such minimal damage to towns and provide no benefit to the raider that there is almost no point to even bothering with raids! The entire "raiding" feature in ETW is completely half-baked especially compared to other strategy games.

In Civ4, raiding can be an effective strategy because it will destroy valuable improvements and/or cut off access to strategic resources. Plus the raiding nation garners gold for destroying enemy improvements and towns. Let enemy AI units ride roughshod in your territory and you'll regret it!

In Knights of Honor, raiding could be an effective way of increasing your wealth while at the same time setting an enemy province's economy back for a long time!

In ETW, it appears that CA wanted to finally include raiding as a strategy in Total War, but lacked the imagination or confidence in their AI and/or engine to make it actually work as an effective strategy! Personally, raiding in ETW should either destroy the town improvement or make it lose a build level. Plus the raiding faction should be awarded money for destroying improvements. That would make it an effective strategy! However, my guess is that the CA's AI probably couldn't handle a human player raiding its improvements, and it would degenerate into a player cheat.

Typically for my games the AI Raids my townz/ports, and then usually if they have a full stack, they try and take a city... I do experience annoying raids from lesser enemies, but I expect that considering they usually dont have very large armies... But like some one said, Raids are supposed to be annoying.

One issue is that the Trade Buildings don't give you much benefit eventhough they may cost 3500 gold. The trade nodes are so much more valuable. Because they only give you a little, losing money from a Trade Buildling means you only loose a little.

In RTW when you went from say the Market to the Forum you saw a pretty good income increase. Same for Roads and Ports.

They raid my farms with 4000 men when they could easily march just up the road and take the city with 500 defenders anyway.
