How long until the "REAL" version of ETW?

Hey all,

I've been playing ETW for a little while: RTI, custom battles and just recently, 4/1/09 actually, tried a bit of the Grand Campaign.

Since so many patches came out already, I'm wondering when ETW will have the "right" battle and campaign AI, most major bugs and minor junk fixed until the actual ETW marketed by Sega/CA will be properly manifest?

Comments CA/Sega or anyone else?

yeah i agree with this guy. i hate empire so much i already went back to medieval 2 and downloaded some cool mods. that game is a lot of fun. IT HAS NAVAL INVASION!!

Never. They never get it right. The modders get it right.

Right now, if you install Imperial Splendour or Darthmod -- and add the smoke mod, the drum & fife mod, and unlock the minor factions -- you will improve the quality of the game 100%. No exaggeration. And in a year's time, the mods will be far more advanced.

CA builds great engines, but they don't even begin to push them to the limit. They never have, they never will.

honestly, give it a year. I'm thinking of revisiting Rome, or maybe some civ4. This is a mess, reminds me of a plant i worked at in chernobyl *gazes at his 6th toe with contempt*

Lol, if thats what we are waiting for we are F-ed. Really though I expect a decent AI around the same time of a expansion announcement so 9 to 10 months but of course the expansion will be broke in some matter.

Really though Anyone seen Stormrise by CA what a waste of.... EVERYTHING. What in the hell was CA thinking? Stormrise and This bug infested Empire Total War Release, sad to say but i see lay offs in CA future.

Alot of negativity around the forums i see. I understand what you guys are feeling right now. I went into Tesco and bought the game a few weeks ago during my lunch break at work. A hot girl asked me what i was doing for lunch, and i told her i had to get a mother's day card for my mom. I couldnt tell her i was buying a game, cos that's like a bit sad, and i wanted to impress her by telling her how much i love my mom and what a caring guy i am.

Anyway, i started playing and i was lucky enough to steer clear of many CTDs. I enjoyed the game and was impressed by the epic feel of the game. But i noticed a few things wrong with the game such as the naval invasions bug amongst other things. I spent £25 on a game and i still feel i'm getting my money's worth. Let me explain.

I spent £65 on Guitar Hero World Tour. Man i suck at that game (have you ever tried strumming American Woman on medium? The Hammer-ons just kill me). I played it for like a week and now i am thoroughly bored of it. The same goes for GTA4, i got bored of it after a week. Probably because the main character was a slav (i dont know). But with Empire, this is something different.

I dont think it will take 18 months to "perfect". CA is already working on a major gameplay patch, but more importantly, its gonna release modding tools so the boffins here can get to work. These two facts reassure me that my money is well spent. I payed £20 for M2TW, and i got to play the vanilla, Stainless Steel, Lands to Conquer, DarthMod, and Broken Crescent.

Its gonna get better, but i know the playstation generation (such as myself) are impatient. Just rest assured your money has been spent on something that is gonna give you years of play and not something totally bollocks like a new FIFA game or a crappy new FPS.

Its always been the same with CA games, the vanilla is ok, but the mods are where its at. CA had promised constant support and updates and i think they have learnt alot from Paradox. If we can get our very own Johann, we are indeed living in great times.

Besides, for me personally, there is nothing out there that compares to TW games (alongside Paradox Interactive minus their "Rome" effort). I intend to support CA now and in the future if only for the bang for my buck they have given me with MTW, Rome, and M2TW. Empire will eventually become great. Just gotta wait a little bit.

At work, i recently drew a map on a piece of paper of my current Dagestan campaign when i was bored. A hot co-worker asked me what i was doing. I told her it was my campaign for ETW and then explained my aspirations and intentions. I ended by asking her if she thought i should attack the Ottomans or what. I havent talked to her much since then, but i dont even care. Paying her £25 would not give me the same kinda long term pleasure.

there will not be a particular date; ETW will not just suddenly flip a switch and become truly playable, unless they release the mother of all patches. it will be a gradual evolution. and when i say evolution, .. i really mean it.
