Default Is this  for real!?

You... you have to be joking. I seriously want to know how new this is and if this show is still running!

I mean it was one thing to claim "well Greeks are trying to deny us an identity" but this... wow Skopje, this is a new low! As much as I would love to believe that Bucharest hosted a pan-global conspiracy to invent Balkan nations and deny the "Macedonian state's existence" I doubt that was the case. Just how... mainstream is this train of thought in Macedonia? I mean it made it on TV, surely someone must have thought it was profitable...

P.S. I just love how "Macedonians" believe they will at one point dictate terms to the EU.

I had to do a double-take when I heard "I am the the slut Europe."

Do... "Macedonians"... know what continent their own country is located in?

Although I'm quite skeptic when it comes to USA's education levels, I sincerely doupt this claim. Even the majority of Afghanistani knows which continent they are on.

I never thought Macedonia had a high tech level like that. Borat was wrong.

    Uh huh...

Greeks don't take usurpation lightly, so unless by some miracle their propoganda gets believed in the international level, I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Course, there are some people out there that would love for this state to be a counter-balance to greek influence.

And it's the wrong time for that to happen to us, too.

Bah, Turkey is a counterbalance to Greek influence in the region. The two big players in the Balkans are Greece and Turkey. Micro states like FYROM are insignificant on the international scale. The propaganda irritates me to no end though.

Lol, if FYROM went with the april fool's approach, they might actually get some rep from me. Provided they behaved appropriately as well...

I'll still keep an eye on them though.

How come the Hungarians don't have a couple hundred threads whining about the fact that 2/3s of their country was given to Romania for now apparent reason in 1919? (Hungary was by far the biggest loser of the WWI) Not that I think any of this matters but seriously -- if anyone has room to complain about anything like that in Europe, Hungary should be first in line.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Because empires come and go? Because 2/3 of Hungary didn't have a Hungarian majority? Because Hungary as a whole had a Hungarian minority (45%) in 1867, which prompted the Magyarization procedures? In general if you start ethnic cleansing by forced assimilation you have no right to complain when those subjugated Romanians, Slovakians, or Serbs decide to break away. I think this is the prime motivation for why Yugoslavia should not be rebuilt.

Furthermore, "no apparent reason"? Does the notion of "national self-determination" and nation-states mean nothing to you? Is there any argument which justifies the subjugation and enslavement of over half-a-dozen nations (Serbians, Croatians, Romanians, Slovakians, Czechs, Ukranians, Poles) by two other nations (Hungarians and Austrians)? Regardless, the Entente had a matter of diplomatic honor to settle, which quite frankly they didn't uphold in full anyway. In exchange for Romania's alliance in WW1 Romania was promised all of Banat and the lands East of the Tisa in 1916. Instead Banat was split with Yugoslavia and Hungary kept some of the East Tisa lands. Furthermore, Hungary shrank by 2/3 in total. Only about 1/4 or less was given to Romania. The rest went to Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, and Austria. But of course that is only one minor error in what was otherwise such a brilliantly thought-out post.

The thing which I don't understand is why "Macedonians" believe the states around them were artificially constructed when all of those states at least existed on their own before they were conquered by the Ottomans. It appears to me as though the whole "Macedonian" irredenta is based on Ottoman administrative regions (fig. 2, fig. 3).

Can you honestly think of anything funnier than "when Macedonia defeated the EU"?I mean you couldn't find a more comedically awkward sentence if you tried. Even the idea of four guys beating a turban-wearing snake with swords is not as amusing.
