CTD after every battle
I've solved my graphics problem (disabled ATI Catalyst), but am now running into ctd problem after every battle.
I'm playing Rome (259 BC) on EB 1.2 VH/VH and get the ctd after both sieges and open field battles right after closing the Battle Results screen.
Auto-resolve works without a ctd, but while this may be a workaround it is not a solution.
I've skimmed through about 50 posts on this subject and see a lot of discussion but no clear solutions other than the standard sprite fix (which applies to pre-battle ctds anyway I believe).
Help!!!

Re: CTD after every battle
Wait up to 30 seconds or until the music is finishes before clicking continue.
Post-battle CTD's are an RTW thingy. They can also be caused if your PC is not fast enough to play RTW AFAIK.

After every single battle, after every second battle, or just common post-battle CTDs?

Re: CTD after every battle
Good question.
Here's the history ... I recently got a new computer with 64-bit Vista (ugh) and the ATI Radeon HD 4870x2 graphics card, but when I installed up to EB 1.2 including the known fixes I had two graphics problems that made the game unplayable:
(1) on the strat map, cities, units, and any othe features other than basic topography were flickering;
(2) on the battle map, units and buildings were all flickering.
I tinkered with ATI Catalyst control until the only thing flickering were buildings and the mini-map on the battle map. It made it very annoying and hard to play for any length of time but I was able to finish battles without crashes.
Not sure if this is connected, but I tinkered some more and eventually discovered by disabling Catalyst AI it stopped the map flickering.
I have followed the advice by Mediolanicus and it seems to have worked for the couple of battles I have had since then, but now I had my first ctd BEFORE a battle.
Very annoying to say the least especially since my graphics card should allegedly kick butt.
The only other thing I have noticed different from my previous working install on my old computer is that both before a battle and after a battle the screen goes completely black for a couple of seconds before going to the load screen.
Anyway, a keg of my finest to anyone that has any ideas.
Thanks!

Re: CTD after every battle
Are the drivers for your video-card completely up to date? Sometimes the drivers that come with new hardware are a bit buggy and require an immediate patching / update in drivers after installed.

Re: CTD after every battle
Yep, I have the very latest driver update installed.
I have managed to reduce the ctds by waiting after a battle for about 30 seconds or so (until after the music fades) but that has only decreased the ctds and not eliminated them. I have even had them before a battle started (but only once).
The whole thing seems pretty unstable and tenuous ... every time I play I feel like I'm trying to walk across the English channel on about an inch of ice.
