Installing on 1.0?

For various reasons, I cannot install patch 1.3. As a matter of fact, it is impossible for me to play RTR, which I would really like (where did they take that strange idea of making 4 Roman factions?).

I tried to reinstalling the game, I tried on another computer, and I have consulted billions of websites. My problem wasn't solved. So I abandoned this approach.

I would therefore like to know if it is possible to install RTR on 1.0.

RTR won`t work on rtw v1.0 and afaik nor will any other mod out there. You have to have a minimum of RTW v1.2. On that you could install RTR 6 Gold and play it successfully.

I have kind of a stupid question, I got RTW: Gold with Empire Total War and I was wondering, is Gold already patched to 1.5 or does it need to be? What the heck does Gold mean anyway?

RTW Gold should be RTW v1.5 by default. In DVD versions it usually came as RTW v1.5 plus BI v1.6 on the same disk with both installing automatically. Later versions bundling RTW with Alexander TW came out afaik which skipped BI from the pack.
Gold should mean imo that the game has reached its final version of perfection with no more things to fix. Which is not true of RTW Gold unfortunately, plenty of stuff still needing to be addressed. So I guess it actually mean that it is the final version from the developers who have since moved on.
If you want to know what version of the game you have start the game(be it RTW or BI or Alexander) and go to the main menu. In the upper right corner it will say something like ver1.5 for RTW and ver1.6 for BI etc.
