    Default Camera mode "insert" key should be expanded.

    The "insert" key when pressed gives a first person perspective and can toggle through different soldier's with the mouse wheel. You get the first person perspective which is awesome.
    The ship views are not as good because there are only 2 below deck selections.

    Question: Can this be modded? Can we get say, the captains perspective on deck with ability to pan 360 degrees?
    This would add ALOT OF FUN to the sea battles.
    Imagine being the captain on deck of your ships and seeing exactly what he sees. How cool would that be?

    Can it be done or is it hard-coded and up to CA?

    i agree that the naval view is quite limited, i often fantasized about the view from the lower decks, powder monkeys scurrying to and fro, gun commanders berating a seaman who was too slow to get out of the way and nearly lost a foot as a result, but i would also love the view of the admiral, or a topsmen, or a marine, would be quite amazing i believe. So if this ISN'T hardcoded and it is modded, would be a brilliant, crowning achievement, a testament to the ingenuity of all of twc's hard working modders!

    i'd be happy just looking forward - both naval views loor rearwards.. which is pretty odd...or am i missing some obvious way to pan the camera?

    Find the file: "preferences.empire_script.txt"

    Change the line:

    default_camera_type 0; # default_battle_camera <card32>, default battle camera: 0-totalwar 1-rts 2-debug #

    to

    default_camera_type 2; # default_battle_camera <card32>, default battle camera: 0-totalwar 1-rts 2-debug #


    Now you can zoom in as close as you want to a unit. If you hit 'delete' and then scroll mouse in it's pretty cool

    that's your solution. be warned though load times of battles are now increased but it's definitely worth it if you want great camera flexability and the ability to see in houses, ships, etc.

    your first battle you may be under the battle in the imaginary water land. just zoom out to get back above ground level.

    A lot of you think the modders will just fix everything that is broken in ETW. This isn't the case, and the camera is probably hardcoded.
