    Default Startup Error

    Hey, I keep getting this error called

    CA_LIBS - Medieval II suffered a fatal error and will now exit.
    When I first go to open the game.

    I used search but I dont understand what he meant by "Added mod tag," can someone please help me so I can play this awesome mod

    Ive just tried re-installing the mod + game, and still no success. Here is my log file btw:

    Did you completely uninstall M2TW and delete the Sega folder before installing it again? That is the only way to assure you clear out the bug. Sometimes TW just does stuff like this without explanation and the only way to fix it is to wipe everything and start fresh.

    Ill try again, this is very frustrating haha. Im doing it through steam and its quite annoying on how it has to download the installation files

    It might be a steam problem then. Dave has said that steam downloads can cause problems and we don't have the expertise to help you with steam related issues. Sorry I know its frustrating to get CTDs

    Haha thanks anyways. I think it must be a download problem, as it was working fine before i put on kingdoms. Anyways, about the mod AI, I gotta ask, if you make an alliance, are they going to randomly backstab you like they do in vanilla or will alliances actually mean something?

    in the whole time i played KGCM, i only got stabbed once by AI.
    this was caused by me locking him in entirely inland.

    LMAO hahaha. Sounds good to hear that the AI is verr good

    Also, ive narrowed the problem to Steam actually, i cant even play kingdoms by itself, it crashes and makes the same error after i download and install on steam, so thats good, unless steam doesn't reply to my tech support ticket and im screwed

    Woot finally got it to work, apparently on steam, you have to install the kingdoms expansion first lmao?

    Now im having the problem of the setup file for KGCM 3.0 saying there is no medieval total war 2 kingdoms on my comp

    Sorry we can't help you I'm afraid All I can do is wish you luck. I think you need to point your installer to the location of where steam installed it, becuase I here it isn't the standard path.

    Ya ive tried that, ive just installed the mod and its doing the same error again. Im trying to pinpoint what exactly is causing the conflict to not make it start. Gah i just want to play the damn game!

    The folders and whatnot are the same as the sega version of MTW, you just have to use a launcher through steam, so I must be doing soemthing in the installation wrong to make it do all this.

    The display fix, this is supposed to go into the medieval 2 total war/data folder ya? Im reading the installation guide and it is stating that it wont run without it so could that be the problem?

    Ive narrowed it down that it must be in the mods folder for the grand campaign mod, perhaps im downloading from the wrong site? The logfile i already posted is the one i keep getting

    Lol one at a time. So where are you now and what is the problem exactly? You lost me a while ago. Did you get the 3.0 installer to work? The display fix goes into the M2TW data folder. There is a self installer somewhere that I posted int he 3.8 installation thread if you can find that, near the end. Also, I would like to add that the game itself will run without the display fix, it's just that you will get a bug ingame, so that is not what is preventing you from running this. In the end, all I can say is that my expertise on steam problems is next to nothing, probably less than yours. The only advise I can give you is the to get the actual CD. Steam just causes too many problems and is near impossible to get to be coorperative.

    Bah, i got the game 100% working.....then i got greedy and decided to add the improved textures sub mod, was 100% working. I then decide to throw in the realistic horses mod....it does same error lmao....

    It seems like its random chance that it'll install correctly, maybe while downloading the files got corrupted? I'd love to get retail, but i did indeed just buy a steam copy and dont want to spend more money, plus it doesn't even sell around here

    Ill just keep tryin till it works i guess, i just had it working but got greedy with friggin horses lmao.

    I dont know how, but I got it working! I think i had to install, and launch from the steam client instead of the quick link usually used, very weird as they both do the same thing lmao.

    Im now playing a Teutonic order campaign.....and i was getting my ass handed to me by lithuania. Was trying to ally myself with anyone that would fight them, and almost thought the game was lost until randomly denmark and norway came and attacked them and me, i held them off but weakened lithuania alot. Then they were angry...

    They went right through my territory and attacked poland, so i took that large city back and took it for myself and got a nice polish city, and managed to finally get some ritterburder (the awesome dismounted knights of doom), with these alone i was finally able to kill their dismounted knights, i thought i'd never defeat them haha.

    Overall....THIS MOD IS AWESOME! I cant believe the amount of factions, diplomacy, and all that. Im at turn 80-100 or something and finally defeated them, but the mongols basically took over russia so i allied them, and their only ally haha. Im now invading the danes incase the mongols come and betray me and kick my ass, they're a very frightening force and russia is on the verge of collapse and poland and hungary are meagre powers....
