what is the most optimal difficulty settings? which is the most fun?
That is a matter of debate and your personal skill...Normal provides no bonuses to AI troops, but the AI isn't too bright on any difficulty setting. Hard and V Hard provide what is sometimes seemingly unfair morale bonuses on the enemy...Try a 1 unit of infantry vs one unit of infantry battle against the AI on harder difficulty, the computer may win or lose, but you will suffer severe casualties....
what about campaign difficulty?
A commonly used difficulty is Campaign VH and Battle H.
This makes the campaign game slow down a fair bit while the enemy dont have abnormal bonuses to morale in battles.
An interesting fact is that CA for some reason refuses to tell us what exactly the difficulty settings do. We know they give some stat/money bonuses, but nobody is 100% sure.
My pony jumps ever so high
Im looking for the max challenge in TW series, so i play on campaign VH and battle VH.
I noticed that in campaign VH the AI has huge armies and they keep them coming, even though that faction dont have so much money. It makes units all the time, even if it has money or not.
I play VH battles because I want the maximum tactical difficulty on the battlefield, but I set the campaign map to H because I figured CA probably encoded some unrealistic zergfest at VH on campaign map mode in which every nation would decide to go to war for me simply because I set the campaign map to VH![]()
I play VH VH when primarily fighting on land, I switch to VH (campaign) H (battle) when naval warfare is required. VH naval battles are impossible to win when both fleets are more or less equal.
The reason I love TW games is the ability to compensate being outnumbered - tactical superiority (fighting real-time battles). On VH autoresolve leads to better results than fighting it out manually.![]()
