I know it was an April Fool's Joke, but it also raises the question: can vote threads be manipulated? Can someone change the votes / add x amount of votes to an option?

I'll take that as a yes. I thought that only poll options (the texts) can be changed.

Nah man. Sim could shrink your penis if he wanted, we're just lucky he's not that kind of guy.

Yes its technically possible. Sim or I either one could, but neither would. Reading your PMs however is a different story...

Anyone whose name is bolded red or whose name is Augustus Lucifer has that capacity. Luckily they never read them unless there's a big issue going on.

It's not so much of a problem unless you're a modera... ooohh, did i say too much???

I don't have to go into the stockades again, do I?

Apart from the joke, I'm surprised... we have 663 citizens?? Boy, three more and we have a problem...

Actually, Sim and GED should be the only ones who can read PMs. It can't be done through the Admin Panel, I could delete all of your PMs, and see how many you have, but not read them. That has to be done by viewing the databases.

Oh, I thought... other admins have told me over the months that they could too.

If other admins can, it's either a method I'm not familiar with, or they are merely asserting that they can have Sim do it. I don't have any reason to explore the PM reading possibilities, though.

Well if you want to you can edit it so that 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 vote for John Stewart as the greatest comedian, but if you did, the total vote count will stay the same as the number of voters so you would notice something fishy.

Thanks, that sets me at ease a little bit.

edit: but someone could still alter the votes without adding new votes. F.e.
    Yes - 21
    No - 9
    Abstain - 3
    number of votes: 33
    ---> Divine Intervention --->
    Yes - 16
    No - 13
    Abstain - 4
    number of votes: 33

How can such action be monitored? I trust in GED and Sim, don't get me wrong please, I'm just curious to know.

Admins can see when polls were edited and by whom, so if there are any discrepancies, they can investigate the edits.
