    Default Creating New factions?

    So I am trying to create new factions, now for the Campaign, just for battles for now.

    I have attached my work below so far, yet the game still crashes when i try and run it, I am using the mod manager to toggle the mod on.

    You will notice that the files also only contain new entires and not the old entries.

    Any Help would be great, this is rather confusing, o I pulled most of these files from the main.pack because not all of them are in the patch.pack, just in case you are trying to find them

    This should be possible, but annoying

    Well these factions are for the American Civil War Mod, and this is just for custome battles not campaigns atm

    I think your problem is, that all other factions are gone. there are many other files, that look for those groups and in your setup can't find them.

    I know CA explained, that you just have to put in those things, you like to add or change, but this is not running atm. I also ran into such problems, when i try to make changes to the naval units, so i just let those units i don't need (land units) untouched for now. Mayby you try first of all to just add them to the list, or you have to search for all other files, that might referance to those units you want to take out (technoligy-, building-, text-files and so on).

    Okay so we can add new factions to Empire Total War? What's the faction limit? Is there any?

    Once we have more database files figured out... along with other files of the game we might be able to add factions.. along with finding out and being able to edit more of the startpos.esf.

    As of right now it's incredibly complicated and not likely to work as there are many things that are called from the database files... and many of the startpos.esf values have not been fully figured out as of yet.

    We are having trouble figuring out how to make an emergent faction fully functional without many errors and that isn't even going that well.

    I wouldn't expect to be able to add in factions for at least a little while... maybe not even until they release mod tools.

    Adding new faction might be complcated, but it is possible to change factions for battle, mayby campaign (not sure here, as i didn't know much about startpos.esf). You will need new flags and alter some files (including localisation.loc, which is a little tricky and a lot work), but i already made it for my sealords mod.

    Right now I am only looking to add factions for custom battles, which should not require any changes to the startpos.esf file.

    I have a ton of group files in the mod pack, if you open it up you can see I have all the ones that have a reference to a faction, although I only have the addtions not the original data because we are not suppose to need it.

    This weekend I am going to go step by step through each file and play human debugger and firgure out which files crash what.

    I don't think the unit files are at fault mainly because they have no faction reference.

    I am also going to try and add in the original data, and a bunch of other very old debugging methods.

    I can already change a faction completely with different units and such, I wonder if the engine currently does not know how to handle new factions?

    At leats for the time beeing I can private test by replacing other factions units with mine, but before anything is offically released I need to be able to make new factions, and by viewing the data files there is no reason why I cannot.

    what about the action ID? there can be a problem.

    dont try to add factions, harshman. Just change the existing, since your mod is only about 2 factions.

    what I mean - is that you should choose a faction (Britain for Union, France for Confederates) and then mess with them creating new units for them, skinning, startpos editing, text editing and so on)
