Is there any way to save a video of a battle from a campaign game? Or can you only use movie_cam on custom battles?

I think it's only for custom battles...
Optio, Legio I Latina
run Fraps before starting Rome. Then use the shortcut button ( default is I believe F9 or F10) and start recording video. Same button is to stop the recording.
EDIT: 0.o A separate thread!
This is what ya need FRAPS

Fraps only records for 30 seconds though.
Horum omnium fortissimi sunt Belgae.
Not true...
I could upload you a 4gb capture from my Eve online...
Yea if u put them together afterwards...
Horum omnium fortissimi sunt Belgae.
Or if you pay the one-off license fee - I did so about three years ago. It's then possible to record as much as your hard drive can take....

It stops recording at 4gb, and starts a new file, again upto 4gb.
Not made from many parts Aristedes.
And my FRAPS I didn't have to pay for. It was a gift
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Haha, hmm. I could do that but my machine loses its sound and occassionally crashes when im on Roma Surrectum NORMALLY, due the pc's technical inefficiency.
Running any major programmes/applications in the background makes it freeze/crash/lose sound in approximately 5 mins... Enough time to load a campaign lol
But cheers anyway
ps: Apple, were you cherryfunk?

Anyway thanks for your help everyone, ill just stick to not recording videos and actually being able to play a whole battle

FRAPS doesn't take any of the system resources, I believe. It does slow down the game for a moment or two if you are really deeply zoomed in on the action, especially at the moment you activate and deactivate the FRAPS recording.
Try XFIRE Recorder its the same thing, and quite unknown to people its free no watermork and no time limit.
Gamecam is the best one I tested, and it doesn't drop your framerate to 5 fps like fraps does.

I once left the "record" button on for Fraps and forgot about it... I recorded videos for half the games I own without even knowing it. And I filled up my hard drive until all my apps started to crash and I couldnt figure out why...
lol.
