    Default Naval Warfare games?

hey guys, I thoroughly enjoy the naval warfare in Empire: Total War. are there any other recent games that emphasize on naval combat? not necesserily a simulator, but just something fun to play for a beginner sea dog ...

eras: 1700s, 1800s, WW1, may be WW2... I think modern Naval simulators would be too hard...

    Distant Guns (Russo-japanese war)
    Jutland
Tried the demos of both, the're... well, a little rough at the edge, but rather manageable overall. And have nice visuals, as far as wargame goe anyway... Anyway, there are demos so you can make an opinion on them...

Of course, there are the silent hunters game for WWII subs.

On the more casual side of the gaming spectrum, there's the now aging Pirates of the Caribeans by Akella, a re-labelled SeaDog2 with some disney pirate of the carribeans elements hastilty slapped over it. Well, in anycase, a pirate game I've always found vastly superior to the Sid Meier's Pirates! remake, despite clunky consolish controls. Oh, and Akella have made other similar games since, though I don't know how good they are, and also did make an Age of Sails II game even before, which was more on the simulation side.

Definitely not a simulator, Sid Meier's Pirates! has fun battles and you get to live the life of a pirate, exploring, wooing ladies (not actually as good as it sounds) and dueling enemy captains.

Sims? Silent Hunter series (and we've been nagging Ubisoft to include some big-gun surface action for us to control as well, so keep an eye on the series),

Harpoon first came out in 1989. So you should catch your tongue. Harpoon is a realistic air and naval wargame simulator.

Battlestations: Pacific comes out pretty soon I think. The naval combat would be very different from empire simply due to the timeframe the games are in but its still super fun to control carriers and destroyers and stuff.
