Researchers have discovered a major botnet operating out of the Ukraine that has infected 1.9 million machines, including large corporate and government PCs mainly in the U.S.
Aside from its massive size and scope, what is also striking about the botnet is what its malware can do to an infected machine. The malware lets an attacker read the victim's email, communicate via HTTP in the botnet, inject code into other processes, visit Websites without the user knowing, and register as a background service on the infected machine, for instance. The bots communicate with their command and control systems via HTTP.
I can't seem to find a description for 1d593a5u.exe and I'm slightly bothered by it. Would anyone happen to know?
Ive looked on numerous sites for this also. In my experience .exe files that you havent downloaded your self can be trouble. DO NOT open it.
sanboxy everything! safest way to go!
Recently found a virus on my computer the other day - some form of fake antivirus software which continually pops up (in my case Antispyware soft), pretty much stopping work. Simplest way I found to get around it was search the internet for the name of the virus, search the removal articles for the .exe file. Then restart your computer in safe mod, and search your files for the .exe (in this case, random numbers, ending in tssd.exe). Usually they're in application settings.
Delete the relevant .exe(s) then you can go through the rest of the processes, as they tend to block your access to task manager and regedit.

After 10+ years of no security software, and maybe 1 or 2 problems early in that period, I decided to use antivirus software. Mainly because I am sharing files. But so far I find no advantage whatsoever. The program points out things I would never click on, it's been totally useless because I already know what not to run.
Even the '1 or 2 problems' I experienced when I was too noob to know what not to click on didn't do any damage because virus killing tools are simple to use.

But you won't need them unless you're a noob![]()

I had this virus about a week ago. Luckily I got rid of it, although my laptop is so screwed up anyway that it hardly matters. I find it odd how I got the virus because I the only websites I had tabbed were TWC and Kotaku. I read that you can get the virus from Flash and I was watching a YouTube video on Kotaku when I got the virus...whatever.
It won't let you open up programs at all, even Task Manager, and has constant pop-ups telling you to install an anti-virus program called Security Suite. I have to hand it to the makers of the virus. It looks pretty legitimate but I knew it was a fake immediately. I got rid of it by going into Safe Mode and doing a system restore.

Yeah, it popped up BS Viagra and porn sites. I tried opening up Firefox when I had it but it said that IE couldn't open up the webpage because it had a virus...even though I was using Firefox. If I tried opening other programs it would have a pop-up that said they had viruses too. Task Manager with a virus?I think not!
