Default Revolution- Also a religious revolution?

I have postet this in another post also, but just wanted a larger crowd to see if this was possible:

When a revolution happens, is it possible to change the religion of the faction also? So, when the Ottoman Empire has a revolution, would it be possible to mod it so that the "rebels" were Orthodox? Or if there were a revolution in, lets say Sweden, the rebels were Catholic. Would have been cool to also changhe the state religion, dont you think?

Yes, but it would only make sense if the opposition missionaries had been VERY successful in the home territory. And denominational conversion is such a chore.

I want a "no state religion" option in the so-called Age of Reason. The history of religious tolerance far preceded this time period (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_religion#Europe), albeit historically ETW's period is following a period of religious intolerance (Thirty Years' War, witch hunts, Inquisition, etc.).

Interesting, but most states maintained religion as a means on maintaining the status quo and diplomacy. Even if religion was used in a pragmatic sense, atheism never caught on at a state level and trying to impose it on your citizens and others would've resulted in riots.

    Are you cool, man?

The lack of imposing a religion (i.e. freedom of religion) does not impose a lack of religion on the people (i.e. athiesm, or even agnosticism). Being over-tolerant can irritate some people though...especially the intolerant ones.

This isn't a basic feature, and I doubt you could mod it in.

You can very easily change a faction's religion in the stratpos file, it's a one liner. Problem is, they'll still build religious buildings of their previous religion, and all their regions will still obviously be loyal to their original religion. [I tried this turning the Knights of St.John into Protestants. It worked, but Malta was still obviously 100% Catholic, and I built Catholic Churches].

Actually, if the rebels are an emergent faction you can just change their religion in startpos.esf

Ah, a "Free-Religion" tech would be awesome.
Making foreign missionaries near obsolete and regions no longer affected with religious differences.
