Default Shadow flickering regardless of drivers :(

Ok, so I've tried a couple of nVidia drivers, 182.06, 182.08, 182.46 and currently running 181.22, with no luck in reducing the damn shadow flickering I have atm. Hardware shadows don't do anything.
This is really getting on my nerves.
Next up I will do a fresh reinstall of Vista to see if it helps.
    Comp specs; C2D E6750 @ 3.2Ghz, 4GB XMS2 RAM, 8800GTX (/w 181.22 drivers atm), Vista.
    This sucks so bad.

Is it the shadows that are super blocky? And shift really weird when things moves?

    Screenshot or video capture it?

    ---

And I am sure it's not what you want to hear, as it's a video issue -- but try putting your cpu back to stock speeds as well.

Yes its both actually but when I move my camera around the shadows get somewhat better but still has that blockiness to it around the edges.

Edit: Oh and it has nothing to do with the cpu overclock as I had the same issues before I overclocked it.

    HAH! Finally!

I have the exact same problem... at least I'm not alone.

I have found absolutely NO WAY to fix that issue yet. I will keep this thread updated and if ANYONE has any ideas, pleaase let me know!

I have the exact same crappy blocky shadows.

Yeah tell me about it! This is sooo annoying! Any ATI users with the same issues? Could this be an nVidia problem only?

Are they flickering all the time in battle??

Sometimes I experience shadow flickering at the beginning of deplyoment phase, but it stops when I start the battle. (Geforce GTX 295)

General; yes it is constant... and it's not even really a flickering so much as it looks like the shadow map is set to 32x32 (pixels) or something.

So basically we're talking about pixelated shadows? Same here!! (With everything set to ultra!)

Remo, I'd be more apt to believe that if EVERYONE was having this issue, or if it was common issue in ETW, or if it didn't happen to other people in other games.

Now, I doubt it is something we did, and I am also relucatant to believe we can fix it... I am betting it's a limitation in the GPU vs shadow rendering for ETW.

I Hope Remo is right, because a patch should fix it up if so.

I get blinking shadows too. I can say with confidence, it is not my GPU.

I get these as well, since the game went live. Especially noticeable during the deployment stage if the sun is at any angle behind my troops.

Any movement of the camera/battlefield view at all, blink.. blink, blink.

I honestly didnt notice it untill lastnight, and yeh it is abit flickery and blocky.

And reason i didnt notice it were because i had it on medium, but the second i cranked it to "high" i saw it. Weird.

I must not have a good eye for this stuff, as those shadows look basically fine to me. What, specifically, is the issue with them again?

    Marceror; they are not smooth-edged.

The edges of the shadows are very blocky and should be smooth straight lines.

Only if you have a card that can run anti-alaising at high levels. Anything else will have the result you show.

    So that's a feature/issue with E:TW?

I do not have this problem without anitaliasing on any other game I play.

Anyone who is having this shadow issue have it under anything else? So far it only happens to me in E:TW.

As was asked above, any ATI users have this issue?

Pretty much everyone is having this problem.

Any new news on this? Seems like I'll be playing with shadows off from now on until some patch fix it.
