Twould appear we are in need of a Censor. Furthermore, we will need to discuss our course of action in the Hellenic War and we must decide what budget we will allocate to the Provincia Sicilia this year.

Even without the Quaestor's report, we can appoint a Censor. We only have a limited number of Consulars, so unless someone else who is eligible comes forward, I nominate Spurius Herrenius Pictor for Censor.

EDIT: My mistake, Pictor is already our Pontifex. Well, from my memory, that leaves no one applicable to be Censor.

Well, these are rather unusual circumstances. If no man can hold the office of Censor, I guess either we appoint a non consular to the office, which I would prefer we avoided, or one of the eligible senators resigns his office, and becomes Censor.

If no other man offers himself, I am willing to give up the office of Pontiff...

But then, Senator Herennius, who shall take your position of Pontiff?

We have no one eligble for that office as well, I am afraid that we need to bring a non-consular Senator and appoint him Censor.

It is sad that the honour of Senator is so thin amongst the men of Rome...

Don't be silly, we have people eligible for Pontifex Maximus. At least I am and I'm sure more are too.

As far as I know, any Patrician in the senate is elegible for the office.

I would like to appoint someone who has good management skills. Why? Because I believe it is once again time for us to have another Census of senators and Romans. I would have done it during my term, but I was occupied with other matters.

Then who will do it, my friends?

Every truly experienced Senator has an important office here. You, Consul Ahenobarbus, and Senator Crassus is now Proconsul in Sicilia...

"Where did that snake Scipio go?" thought Herrenius, "right we we need him..."

"Senators", he said, "I am sure that many of you are both elegible and willing to take the office I hold now. If there are no other options, I will resign the office, and run for Censor, and begin the census. The sooner we do this and move on, the better."

Hard times need such measures. I agree - Senator Herrenius should take up the seat of Censor and make that Census. I feel that many people do not attend their Senatorial duties. (OOC: We really should get some more members, this is getting stupid; no competition for offices just because there are more offices than members.)
Now, does anyone oppose Senator Herrenius laying down the Office of Pontifex Maximus, and taking up the mantle of Censor? Please, speak now.

Also, if all agree, I want to hear who would wish to take the vacant place of Great Pontiff. Senator Falco; anyone else?

I urge you to decide quickly, many things have to be done this year.

OOC: Maybe reducing it to only 1 praetor and 1 tribune for the next term, if we don't get more people?

    IC:

Very well, I, Spurius Herrenius Pictor, declare my resignation from the office of Pontifex Maximus, and declare my candidature for the noble office of Censor of Rome.

If Falco would accept the appointment of Pontifex Maximus, then that would be excellent, and we would have a full house of magistrates for this term. Now, for the next matter in line, the Quaestor's report, if you please. I shall also begin gathering information for a Consular report on the situation of the Republic. I understand that Sicily requires particular looking into, even with the Proconsul there.

If the House wills it so, then who am I to decline this duty and this honour? If the Senate declares that I am to be Pontifex Maximus, then I shall be Pontifex Maximus.

Such a man of duty and honour you are, Senator Falco!

I do not know of any man fit better for an office so important and holy.

Excellent choice for the office. Will a motion be voted for the new offices, merely a formality if you ask me, or can it be skipped?

If nobody opposes that Senator Spurius Herrenius Pictor be elected Censor of the Roman Republic and Senator Marcus Lucretius Falco Pontifex Maximus than I don't think we should hold a vote. (OOC: How is anybody supposed to offer resistence if nobody is here? Where is everybody?!)
    Well, anyone against the motion?

Senator Narses rises, and rasps his throat.

Good Senators, I wish to bring forward a proposition.
The last few terms, I have not been here, but I heard of the economic problems.
Then, it was imperative to keep our nation from becoming a poor beggar in the World.

But now, as I have heard, our financial situation is more than favorable, and very stable.
Therefore, I suggest that we advance in our infrastructure, especially farming in Italia.

Our territory is still small, so it may be possible to postpone this until further notice, but I implore you to think about this.
I would especially like to hear my fellow Tribune's idea on this matter.

He sat down, and sank back a little in his chair.

    Thank you Senators, Consuls.
