So, I've been playing Empire since release now. I've conquered the world with several nations. I've mastered the art of line infantrly combat. I've won glorious naval battles. I've had revolutions, rebellions and countless wars. I've explored all technologies, all units and all game functions. Now I'm left with nothing but a sense of emptiness.

That's it?

I just remember playing the other titles hundreds of hours without tiring (especially Kingdoms). Never did I think Empire would run out of exciting stuff to do so soon... Anyone else feels the same?

Same here.. I say it like this: ETW has too few changes when u compare it with previous TW series.. So everybody just gets bored after a couple of hours playin, cause no real improvement in campaign and battles!! Come on! Its just better game engine, no real improvement!

This is abolutly ridiculous. It makes me angry to read such a comment. Really angry. There was not a single real change form RTW -> MTW:2 but the hotseat which came with the expansion. Okay there was the pope, but I clearly remeber thousands of people ranting in these forums cause the pope was so anoying with all his excomunications.
In Empire you have seabattles, 3 continents and revolutions just to name a few of the changes.

Let it collect dust on the shelves for a few months until mods come out, I guess, sadly.

1.Wait until the passive AI is fixed.

2.Wait until the AI can do seaborne invasions.

3.Play on Hard or Very hard.


Then face a TRUE challenge.

After that return and say you have mastered the art of infantry combat. because you will not only have mastered the art of infantry combat but worldwide strategic combat.

You will not be thinking, "That`s it?"

Yes fine, but I could have tough time by playing mods on MTW or RTW. Whats to point here?? The main reason I got bored is not crippled AI etc.. but the limits of the game and no real changes, so I can breathe a fresh air and say to me, yeah!! thats real fun! Just look at diplomacy options! They are more cut than in RTW - no option to make nation to declare war or make peace to other nation. And the REASON these things are not implemented is that the game was sewed by a hot needle! So only the main things were made to have a core of the game, but the potentional of the game was not developped at all!! Just look at Machiavello: total war or other mods improving campaign things like diplomacy, traits, new features.. they are many..
So to sum up, the reason people get bored is that the game offers far less of fun and new features than RTW, MTW or other mods have offered so far. Its just a naked core of the game which potentional havent been expanded.

Yeah, I'm really hoping for the naval invasions to make the difference. But my usual total naval domination makes that difficult. For me to face a challenge, the AI would have to wait for steam drydocks instead of just building naval hospitals, building lots and lots of heavy 1st rates! The most an AI has thrown at me is a half fleet of 4th/2nd rates. What's a naval invasion without lots of warships?

And the AI really needs to build trade ports instead of fishing fleets, industry instead of religious buildings..

M2:TW with SS and Kingdoms was fun. Even vanilla M2:TW was for 100's of hours. Empire isnt fun for 50 hours. Somthing is wrong and I blame the lack of variety in factions. Its the same battle from the first time. Blame the era or blame my taste but it isnt as fun to me as M2. It just isnt retail quality and it should have stayed in development for as long as it takes, SEGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i play turtle campaigns with pretty passive diplomacy and my games have been very entertaining. by the time i have my armies ready and top notch the AI has built LOADS of troops

That's not possible until 1 and 2 are done.

Then face a TRUE challenge.

We'll start believing the praisers who say "IT'S GOING TO KICK ASS!" when the thing is actually released. Until then, step softly and carry a big stick of skepticism... thanks Teddy.

That's actually pretty funny. I do hope this part was meant to be a joke, because when the AI gets that smart, let me know. There's going to be a lot of nations in line trying to get their hands on that sort of AI to train their soldiers with.

We'll concede to this statement once (rather IF) the patch that corrects these problems is ever released and does in fact deliver what you say it will....
