I personally believe that Total War always deserves to be rendered with all settings on highest - no matter WHAT! This is important folks!
So, what settings do you use? Not low, I hopeNow I wanna see some percentages!
All low
Low / Medium
All medium
Medium / High
All high
High / Ultra
All ultra

ULTRA![]()
All ultra![]()
Now let's see if this becomes a normal distribution, or maybe an exponential?![]()
I'm medium/high. I can only play small battles on ultra. If I put the unit sizes on medium I would be able to play on ultra but I'd rather have ultra unit size.
Well, I'm in the somewhat interesting position whereby my PC is bottlenecked by its rubbish CPU. So wether I run it on low or high, it makes no difference to the performance. Which isn't great.
medium all...
cant get it to anything higher... would like high water detail and some few other things but they are locked.. any ideas?![]()
If people isnt over the minimum standard of living... lower the standard..
if there is too much poverty in a sociaty, lower the poverty line... my qoutes... comment them if you will...
All ultra. My CPU is a slight bottleneck, getting 15-20FPS when zooming all in on my firing units with smoke mod, but damn - is it worth it? Sure is. ^^
play on all ultra but ive had to lower some of the other settings (like shadows and suck) down or off due to slight lag in 4v4 battles in multiplayer
You look great today.
I can't set higher than medium, don't know why![]()
Wierd, because I could select and use them in the demo
l33tl4m3r, thanks, but I don't know the graphic memory of my video card, how do I find it out?
I'm a noob at scripts, so what does this mean?
gfx_video_memory 0; # gfx_video_memory <int>, Override available video memory (bytes) #

Um, while we're on the subject of locked settings, can anyone tell me why my PC is forcing me to have particle effects on high? I want to put them down to medium, but the game just reverts back to high afterwards...
I play on all high, but I turn off AA and HDR and a few other things because I'm not a fan of the effects.

[COJOT]Alpha-Lupus;
You should check your ..\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts\preferences.empire_script.txt
If you can't set past medium you most likely need to check gfx_video_memory, I bet it is blank or set to a number that is not correct for the amount of video memory on your card. This happened to me, and once I set my video memory manually in this file, I was able to correctly set my video levels.
512mb = 536870912
256mb = 268435456
Let me know if this helps or if you need another byte amount for a different memory amount.

Yep, that's your problem... It does not correctly see your video memory amount, happened on my sli'ed 8800gts's.
We need to find out your memory amount;
Click start, then run, then dxdiag.
On the second tab, tell me what kind of video card it says you have. Listed under "Name:"
Or;
Download GPU-Z and run it.

Depends, I can run on full ultra for low/mid scale battles, but large battles are a different story....
Once again, I cannot vote (that is really lame) but I play with all settings on medium ( the highest available for me), with the exception of shadows and grass which are off.
