my medieval total war 2 freezes during load screen
i am running a dell gx260 with a gig of ram and a 512 nvidia 6200 agp 8x.some would think that alone is the problem but no...
i ran into a directx issue and reformatted the dell.before i could find the correct ethernet drivers on the internet or the chipset i had installed only the game and my graphics drivers/sound drivers and the game worked fine.after hunting down the correct chipset/ethernet drivers and then wiping the disc and reloading again(a fiasco in and of itself)the game won't work.in fact the pc itself is running substantially more sluggish since installing the chipset drivers which leads me in thinking the obvious...so if it is the chipset causing the problem do i have any other options aside from keeping the pc completely offline and running it barebones to be able to play games,without the proper chipset?
the game stalls on the load screen and after about 3 mins of waiting for it to load i hear a ping and my screen is frozen black.i can't even ctl alt delete or alt tab to find out what the error says i have to restart.
does anyone have any idea if i am right in thinking it is the chipset or have experienced a similar issue and remedied it or maybe heard about a guy who knew a guy who went to see another guy about a dog...
