    Default Distance to capital/culture penalty

    Hello everyone

Is there a way to increase the distance to capital and culture penalties? I hate to see Makedonia and Ptolemy/TSE eat half of the Europe, moving from settlement to another quickly, leaving almost no garrison behind; ie. for balance and realism reasons. Is there a way? Other tips on making gigantic empires more unstable?

Once you have understood how buildngs work, you can start to reduce some of the bonuses that keep settlements happy

I reduced the happiness effect of all religion buildings by one (= first ones are useless), made theatres etc. more costly halved the Roman amphitheatres' effect but, to balance _just a little_, doubled the effects of the Tavern and the Bardic Circle.

Works good so far, I have to leave larger garrisons in conquered settlements and bumping their happiness up takes longer. Also TSE and Ptolemy nearly instantly get back the cities the other conquered with too small armies... I hope those stop Makedonia from steamrolling in the long run too... or at least slow it down.
