    Default Twitchy trigger finger..

I noticed that sometimes, a unit, or rather a few soldiers will take pot shots at enemy units that are way outside the range of it. Sometimes 2 or 3 times the 'radar' range that lights up when the unit is selected.

I like that, sort of gives the illusion that there are a few less diciplined in the ranks. I wonder if CA put it there on purpose, or if its a bug. A rather good bug if you ask me.

Another thing while I remember, I will often set my cannon up at the beginning of the battle to attempt a few bouncing shots at the closest enemy unit, now this works a treat sometimes, so much so that balls are bounced right in the middle of a unit. But, there are no casualties ! Why ?

I should be mashing up whole lines of soldiers with any balls landing amongst them shouldnt I ? at least when the same thing is done when the enemy unit is within the 'radar' range of the cannon I get some casualies. Any thoughts ?

I have noticed the same thing with the soldiers randomly firing, you often get some guys who fire late aswell, which adds a nice touch of realism.

Pre aiming cannon to bounce the balls into the enemy is something i do aswell, and works pretty well for me. Particularly when shooting at cav, since they are normally at walking speed before they enter your cannon range proper, so you can score some really nice hits, ive seen a single cannon ball take out 11 horse in one awesome bounce.

    Kennosen,

    1. Cannon Collision Detection
    - With the latest patch I've seen much worse cannon collision. I think they reduced the damage cannon/artillery do as "splash". I have also had many fine manually placed skips pass harmlessly through ranks of soldiers. This was not the case prior to the latest update.

    2. Independent Troop Firing / Hangfires
-Take a look at my foot guide, not only do troops fail to fire completely, have a priming failure, which means they fire a few seconds later, or have a hangfire (they pull the trigger, the powder burns, they continue to hold the gun out and then it fires on a longer "fuse").

I'm compressing a video for YouTube now in HD that has some really incredible first person shooting footage.

I think the cannon collision detection has spilled over into the Naval portion as well with the recent patch too.

I'm noticing that chain shot is no longer quite as effective as it had been for me at the moment.

Gonna spend tonight mussing around and see if its just my perception and bad luck
