    Random Thread...

Is it just me or are movies that feature Nine Inch Nails either in the trailers or during the film itself made 100x better?

Terminator Salvation is the newest one to feature a song of their's in a trailer. Honestly I hadn't even given this film a second thought but then I saw this trailer...

That's "The Day the World Went Away"

    And there was 300

    "Just Like You Imagined"

I can't find YouTube videos of these but "The Hand That Feeds" showed up in an Underworld: Evolution preview as well and others was featured expertly used in Natural Born Killers ("Burn" and "Something I Can Never Have"), Man on Fire (remixed versions of "Mr. Self Destruct" and "The Downward Spiral"), The Crow ("Dead Souls"), The Lost Highway ("The Perfect Drug"), Final Destination ("Into the Void"), and a few more

indeed that song just makes the terminator trailer all the more better, others will disagree but its all opinion and taste. I think Wanted also has "Everyday is exactly the same" played throughout the movie

    Yeah, I forgot about that...

"just like you imagined" is awesome, and normally I dont like music with no lyrics
Yeah it really is a sweet song and I think it works perfectly with 300 and the preview - still sends goosebumps up my spine, and same with the terminator salvation preview

This thread reminded my of how overrated and tiresome NIN is.

Below Average songs. Below Average effort. Below Average talent.

would you with that? ya, I didnt think so.

NiN is one of the few groups in rock that constantly renews itself, never does the same old stuff again and again, and they give out free stuff!

Shake your head all you want. Trent Reznor hasn't even tried to put a good NIN album together since Downward Spiral.

actually most people say "Trent hasn't done anything good since The Fragile" but I disagree, I admire the man for caring about the fans he released two albums last year, one for free and their live shows are still something great the recent tour had some kickass visuals. I know you can slag it off all you want since its your opinion and everyone has a right to one but you don't have to say "oh NIN is overrated and below average" just because you prefer something else.

Now that I got the NIN fans frothing at the bit...

Time to move in for the kill.

Peter Tägtgren and Pain all the way. So much better than NIN and Reznor...

Ok...never heard of them before but I think I could get into them with time...however what exactly is your point? Are you trying to say that Pain and NIN are in the same vein of music and are "better"? Cuz they're not at all.

Honestly, the reason why people say: "oh NIN havn't put out anything good since [insert album name]" is mostly b/c NIN keeps changing up their music style and sound with every album and people who liked the '80s emo-pop sound of Pretty Hate Machine end up disliking the dark, brooding, electronic sound of The Downward Spiral...and then those fans end up hating the more guitar oriented, melodic sound of The Fragile, etc etc.

NIN is incredibly versatile and progressive and yes...some of their songs are a little...lame...especially most tracks on their remix albums but considering their library of almost 350 songs (EPs, LPs, remix albums, singles) a good 20 questionable ones is still a pretty good ratio.

Reznor is an artist and I have nothing but respect for him, he puts so much time into his music, album artwork (not the physical artwork itself mind you but the conceptual portion), videos, live shows, etc and he does all of it almost completely by himself. Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails is easily one of the most inspirational music groups within the last 20 years.

those two bands are too different to compare.

and talk about overrated. The first song was decent, the others, a big fat "MEH" from me.
