Swedish Republic Flag

The Republic of Sweden flag is really cool. I've never seen it though, I can't find it anywhere! Did Creative Assembly make it up?

What does it look like?

If it's three yellow crowns on an azure field, it's the Swedish coat of arms.

If it's a set of four triangles, the top and bottom looking like the Norwegian flag and the sides looking like the Swedish flag, it's the badge of the union.

If it is the Swedish flag with the top area to the top left of the yellow cross red with a diagonal white cross, it is the "distant waters" union flag.

If it isn't, post a picture. -_-

Isnt that one thats blue, but in the upper left corner there is a converted original swedish flag, with a blue cross and yellow boxes?

It seems made up, yes. AFAIK Sweden has never, ever had something even remotly close to a blue cross on yellow background. The cross is always yellow (the original legend being a yellow cross seen against a blue sky... UFO maybe?

)

It seems like a mix of an old full blue naval flag and some colorblind fool taking inspiration from the old union flags with Norways colors in the topleft.

Many of the revolutionary flags are, frankly, quite stupid. A much better (and historical!) thing would be to let Sweden start with the three-crowns flag (three yellow crowns arranged in an inverted triangle on a blue field if anyone wonders), and use the modern Swedish flag as the revolutionary flag.

That would be completely ahistorical, as Sweden is a monarchy both then and now.

There is a flag for that too...

My point was, the modern Swedish flag is the flag of a monarchy. The flag of a Swedish republic would have to be made-up, as no such thing ever existed.

No it would not be unhistorical. We had the 3 crowns as our flag then, and it was later on we got the cross. Its actually unhistorical as it is now.

It looks like a Swedish version of the red ensign... but there is already a blue ensign! :O

Actually, I think I remember seeing a similar flag in Karl XII:s likfärd by Gustaf Cederstrom (in the Gothenburg art gallery)... pretty sure it is not the same though.

Maybe using the Swedish Flag as "republic" and the Tre Kronor as "monarchy" would be better, as the Tre Kronor is more directly associated with the monarchy and the Swedish Flag is more of a general national symbol... but no one in their right mind would allow Sweden to fall to a republic, so it would be silly to have the unrealistic flag as the major one.

Maybe the Republic of Jamtland flag should be used for Swedish republic.
