french revolution unit roster

does france get special unit if the revolution happens? or is it like any faction, means, revolution is just how you pass from absolute monarchy to constitional monarchy then republic?
btw, i ve heard if Austria becomes republic, Grenzer are lost... is it the same for france? it could be normal that you lose "maison du roi" since there is no king in a republic, but do you get extra republican units, which ones? thx

I believe like other Republic factions, you get a Republican Guard unit which is the replacement of the Guards. They have the same stats and maybe the same look, unit cards have a different image though.

All factions have government specific units. Household Cavalry and Guards are the prime examples of government specific units. These units only get lost when a faction goes from either monarchy to a republic. They are regained when you do the opposite. (Republic to a con. monarchy. republics can only go to con. monarchies)
Absolute monarchies have the same government specific units as con. monarchies.

Roster:
Absolute/Con. Monarchy:
Household Cavalry (all euro factions)
Guards (all euro faction.) France gets Maison du Roi instead, same stats/abilities I believe.
Poland gets Winged Hussars. (If you can't recruit them despite having the appropiate techs/buildings then check what government you are in)

Republic:
Conscripts (all euro factions) Like the name implies, they are the yist units one can recruit as a euro faction.
Republican guard (all euro factions) Same stats/abilities/tech requirements as Guards/Maison du Roi. Different looks and unit description though.

I don't know if the Marathas or Ottomans lose/gain and units from different governments. I don't know why one would want to become a republic unit roster wise: You trade in powerful units (Household cavalry/winged hussars) for Conscripts

Not really - they just get the cloned republican guard that everybody else gets.

If they want some unique and powerful French units to best represent Revolutionary france Id think its best to wait until the era of Bonaparte which will probably be released as an expansion pack like kingdoms. Then instead of republican gaurd you would get the Imperial Guard, hopefully split into the young, middle and old to represent veterancy.
