    Icon5 Manageing Army's

I was hoping someone might be able to give me a few pointers. I am playing a GB and I am doing fairly well over all. I have run into a small problem. what are some good ways to manage you army I am generateing decent money but in order to defend all my citys I have to make so many troops that I am only making enough cash to maintain what I have currently. I don't have the extra cash to field attacking army's. What is a more Effective way to defend city's while being able to field army's for attacking. If I down size too much my citys fall. and I have angry citizens.

I generally put HAlf stacks in all citys. but then it takes forever to field a full attacking army?

    Help please?

Most of your cities shouldn't need much defending, especially if they are away from the front. When starting a war, attempt to make an early push - that way the AI will spend most of its time on your attacking force rather than your cities. half a stack seems excessive in any case though.

So far I've focused on building up a few armies, and leaving a small garrison of regular troops in the cities likely to be attacked. Also if you make military improvements to many cities you can quickly mobilize if you are attacked from an unexpected direction. Sadly without Naval Invasions, playing as GB is a bit of easy mode because the AI cannot attack your capital.

With the other nations though, make peace with who you need be prepared that if you are surprise attacked you may have to use a turn or two to recover. On the other hand, if you are totally tapped on cash, it means you're not making improvements. Fully improved resources are worth way more than a standing army.

I see ok, looks like my issue is not so much have a army that too large more like not having proper support buildings. Ok thanks I will look into that. +rep to you
