Can somebody tell me what i'm doing wrong?

System Specs:

AMD Phenom 9500 Quad core 2.2ghz
6 GB DDR2 Ram
Geforce 8500GT video cards x2 running in SLI
Nvida driver version 182.08
Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1

Running land battles even with modest settings perform like crap. Lowering the resolution helps but I have to lower it to the point where I don't even want to play it. Sea battles seem to perform well in comparison. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Your video cards are inadequate.

Your CPU and GPU are wrong. ETW uses 1 2.2Ghz core there... to low... and atleast 8800GT to play it well.

his cpu is perfectly fine. Its faster then a q6600 in fact.

Its his video card thats killing him

Not enough video? Geez I would have thought the two 8500's running in SLI would be more than enough. Ah well, guess it's time to upgrade. Thanks

Okay, I'm exaggerating, but the 8500GT is nowhere near enough for ETW (which doesn't seem to do well with SLI, by the way). I'd try to get something in the top six rows of this chart:
