Penumbra Black Plague

i found this game on a pc magazine with requiem expansion .. is it a good game?

it's the scariest game i ever played. OMFG!

It's like an adventure, with extreme sense of scare, gore and claustrophobia. I lost the count, of how many time i pissed in my pants for the scare... in game u cannot have any weapons, there are humanoids transformed by a virus (not zombies in that sense), and when u make too much noise in a room, u have to hide your self, because if u see them in their eyes, your pg dies for the scare and paranoia. U have to play like in stealth mode, if u run u could capture monsters attention, if u use to much flashlight or lightsticks, u can capture monsters attention and it's very dangerous, because u cannot defend it by them.. your pg will start to have paranoia while playin, see things not real, hear voices on his brain etc, have dreams who trasforms in pure nightmares etc....

in game is full of intelligence enigmas u have to solve... example: there's a door locked, a sign close to it says it's an emergency door. To open that, u have to take a barrel, fill it with fuel or inflammable material, move the barrel close to an electric switch who is malfunctioning, press the switch.. that will fire the barel.. move the barrel under the anti-fire system on the room's roof... then the alarm starts to ring, rains comes down from anti-fire system and the door automatically opens

or something like: you are in a room and there are laser systems on walls, linked to explosives.. to disable them u have to enter in laser interface and found the code to disable them, thru an intelligence mini game

etc etc

Humanoids are very very smart.. great AI

You really do need to play at night with the lights off to get the full experience of it. This is probably the only horror game I've played that's actually scared me.

i do it. Yesterday i played Penumbra at 1 in the morning... and if i play in the afternoon, my room gotta be covered by darkness.. no light should enter here.

I have also Penumbra Requiem (the expansion)

That actually looks rather freaky. Games where you are chased and can't kill it always freak me out especially in dark enviroments.

That looks like one of the most terrifying games I've seen! The picture with dead dogs looks like the scene from The Thing when all the dogs go mad because they're locked in with the alien.

In Penumbra, your pg will be infected then and u will hear and see things not real..

one of the greatest game ever created.

one part i loved so much, when u exit the cave and your pg goes outside, in the middle of nowhere covered by ice with huge snowy storm.. the pg has not a jacket and you will die slowly by freeze.. far away there's the other shelter's door in front of you, but it's iced. you have to find a way to enter
