Unit Highlight not working? Very frustrating please help!

Hello, I play mostly stainless steel mod for m2tw, but recently whenever I play anything in m2tw, including mods and the original game it acts very strange....
When I click a unit on the map or unit card it doesn't highlight them... You know how when you click them green circles appear under each person? Well now all I get is the flag above the unit getting highlighted but the green highlight doesn't come up anymore. Please help!

Seems like your arrow markers are disabled in the preferences. Open the .cfg for Stainless Steel (the default one is medieval2.preferences.cfg, however SS may use a different one - not sure don't have it installed) using Notepad and find the line "disable_arrow_markers = 1". Change the 1 to a 0 and it should work. You may also need to make sure that the .cfg file is not set to read-only or else your changes won't be saved.

I must be an idiot.... But I can't find the preferences .cfg file in either the stainless steel folder or default m2tw preferences .cfg file... And remember it isn't working for everything mods and original game.

It should be in your root M2TW folder (default C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War).
