Default E:TW Leads PC Sales Again

Although many will respond sarcastically to this news, I thought it was worth a look for those who wanted to read something positive about E:TW for a change.

IGN PC Sales of the Week: March 8 – 14

E:TW is working great on my machine, and I'm looking forward to the next balance/feature patch.

Exactly, which is a good thing if we want CA to have the resources they need to continue support for this game, work on expansion titles, and begin development on future TW entries.

I actually purchased from STEAM for this reason. In an era where console games continue to steal market share and reduce the quality of gaming for everyone, it's very important to support worthy PC titles. STEAM allows more direct support for game developers by reducing the overhead costs associated with boxing, shipping, and selling games at EB, Best Buy, etc. They enjoy higher profits through digital downloads, and can use those funds to continue making quality PC games.

This would only be true if they were looking to get by with the bare minimum. CA cares about the quality of their game, and is doing everything practical make it better. Give it some time...E:TW will get there.

I mentioned Steam simply because I went with them this time - for the first time. Any digital download will do. I'm not partial to Steam, per se.

Yes, and when it gets there, i will spend my money on it. I don't like the Idea for paying full price for a unfinished game.

Steam is just a capetalist that wants monopoly on the gamedistributíon they don't care about people. they only want their money for as little trouble as possible. they especially don't take any interest in the quality in games. all in all they are just milking the cow as long as we the COWS volounteerly go to the milking stable. why are we this stupid ?

You say give it some time? weird suggestion if you buy a sweater that was supposed to be green but it is still white. you go to the shop and they say it will be green give some time .... it will become green at some point.

I would be very pissed if that the sweater I read about in the commercials and such places weren't green when I bought it,and didn't see it before I opened the box at home.

if you would have sold your crappy old car for excellent money would you visit the buyer the following days to wash it and fix things that were not working anymore?

(if no lawyer would force you to)

anyways they were extremely successful again and maybe they even deserve it. ok they really need to work hard to make a patch that fixes the last patch that was supposed to fix the unfinished game but after that i only expect another half assed patch before the americas add on is released.

i do expect this game never to be fixed by ca. the only thing that is hard to imagin is that the next tw game follows the tradition and is even more messed up at release

Holy crap, I just realized you're right. Shogun was perfect out of box(from what I can remember), Medieval worked like a champ, Rome crashed every now and again, Medieval 2....I had to let that sit on the shelf for awhile, Empire......I really don't want to fire this one up again even though I have spent countless hours trying to make it work. My god if your theory is correct (which it is) the next game will make my pc turn into a transformer, punch me in the face, take my wallet, and for good measure crush my dog.

the more games they sell, the stronger post-release support they'll have to provide.

It's actually going downhill. They start to care less because they have earned a reputation of selling 'great games', so as soon as a game made by CA comes out, they know they have much more chances of selling than an indie developer, whether or not their previous games were bugged.

There is probably less than a tenth of the total number of customers that bought the game, on the forums.

Its always a good thing, total war games making money means the continuation of this great franchise. Lets hope though that the profits will be used to improve the game (ETW) and for future installments.

What the hell is going on? Nobody likes The Sims clone expansions anymore?

I predict this is going to be the most glorified spam-thread this week.

great, now maybe you can afford some beta testers who play the campaign beyond 1740 so they can see the CTD's ?

i am among the lucky few who has never experienced CTDs. apart from the campaing map lags and in game bugs and stupid AI and missing nice to have features, i am enjoying the game. hope CA will stick to their words and keep correcting and improving the game.
