Default Bugreports: 25th March Patch Version

Please let's channel the bugs since this patch in one separate thread. And no workarounds or fix-suggestions here etc..
Perhaps chances are there that CA will read this in fact if this thread isn't fuzzed like the other sticky one, or just the endless single threads
(if i would be CA i wouldn't ever read those, maybe randomly, with luck) ... so here we go: Needed infos

    1. Game mode (Custom battle, Grand Camp, etc.)
    2. Faction
    3. Year or turn
    4. Give a quite accurate description of the bug you encountered

    5. Played Steam off- or online
    6. Custom files installed/changed (mods or whatever changes)
    7. Prior to this patch the same bug or no

    8. Sys specs (in short)

    I start with my bugreport:

    --------------------------------------

    1. Grand Campaign battle mode (custom battle plays fine)
    2. England (surely with every faction)
    3. 1st or 2nd, equal which turn
    4. Ctd with the usual Empire error message after every battle as soon as the battle has ended and the battle-result table occurs in the camp mode.

    5. Both tested, same result with Steam off or online
    6. Both tested, same result with or without custom files
    7. No, game played fine before this patch version, hadn't any reason to complain prior to this patch

    8. Intel E8500 @ 3,16 GHz / 1333 MHz (FSB), EVGA Nvidia 9800gtx+ on driver 182.06, Mobo Asus P5B (updated), LG 22" 1680x1050 (widescreen), Corsair DDR2 800 RAM PC2-6400/CM2X1024-6400 actively using 3 (of 4) GB @ 667 MHz (FSB), no overclocking at all, XP 32bit SP3 / dx9, all bios and drivers are updated.

Well, the game is now unplayable for me, unless i put back the saved patch.pack files from the former version, but this can't be the goal.
Oh, and don't tell me do this and that, i tried everything!

    Edit:
I even suggest ( moderator? ), that the current active sticky bug report thread gets unsticked and replace it with this one here - reasons are obvious, no? It's outdated, it's much too much confusion in this thread, it's not at all structured, etc.
Use this option or not, i'll anyway make a break on ETW until it is officially declared bugfree, or at least free of critical ctd's.

Edit2: As for the dxdiag, well surely a good addition ( but not everybody will put that into a spoiler etc., perhaps too much fuzz for the average player ), so not a must i would say - but people could add their OS/directx-version (dx) to get a picture, would be helpful.

Edit3 (hint in post # 4 here): For the ones having an account at the TW site, use also or only this thread: http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic...h-support.html - while you must be able to deliver the dxdiag info in spoilers.

I would also suggest add the dxdiag text as well, in a spoiler, to get a complete view of the pc.

To do this: click the start button, go to run (in XP) or just type in the text search box (Vista), type in dxdiag, then click save all info, put it somewhere you will find it! then click save. open the txt file, copy all the text & paste it here using the spoiler button (yellow & balck triangles in a circle on the sybols bar above where you are typing)

This will give a much better idea of what your system is, drivers etc.

I'd also suggest people should only post bugs with fresh campaigns rather than previous games that were started before the new patch, as I recon there are some issues there

Mods: I tryed with mods and without ( no change )

Bug did not occur before patch. I tested latest sound drivers - no help

    System:
    E8400
    GTX280
    4Gb DDR2
Realtek HD Audio - Asus motherboard

This must be hotfixed as soon as possible, its serious game breaker, which is ruining feelings from any battles.

Another bug - not fixed with patch - AI still crashing my campaign during their turn.

i said i wouldn't help people anymore because iv been called a fanboy, because my game is working perfect with no sound or crashing problems, but here goes.
its not just sound mods that needed to be removed its ALL mods, plus don't use any saved game after the patch, delete all saved games including the auto saved game file...i have the same sound card..make sure you open up your sound card control panel and see if your card is set to 48hz and 24 bit,if you don't have surround sound speakers ,make sure you set the souncard to sterio or two speaker mode.then once in game set your sound to use the hardware option.....one last thing right.click on that little speaker icon on the bottom right of your screen when in windows, now if you are on xp make sure the default playback device is your sound card and NOT windows default,if you are on vista go to the advanced tab after clicking on speakers, and make sure you are set to 24bit 48000hz studio quality.

Sounds are screwed with more then just his soundcard - i have realtek HD Audio and have same problem. I reisntalled game, update sound drivers - nothing helped. No mods. Saves doesnt matter - sound are wrong in battles, so i can start multiplayer or custom battle and see what is wrong - no need to go to campaign. AGAIN BEFORE PATCH IT WAS OK.

Yes same problems with sounds. Followed instructions above yet still to no avail. No mods nothing, I even deleted all saves I had, sounds are still missing. For god's sake, why must CA introduce another game breaking bug after solving one?????? I haven't experienced any AI crash so far though battles crash a few times now. I had NO battlecrashes before this patch.

I know how to setup my audio. As stated in my previous post I've tried all variations of settings.

I can´t find the savegame folder. And my Loading and Saving Screens are empty since the patch yesterday.
But the weird thing is the "Continue Campaign" Button is working.

They must be anywhere, so not all hope is gone.
The problem must be that the Screens are searching in the wrong place.

I am using XP. Could anyone help me.

    1. Grand Campaign
    2. France
    3. Any year, AI's turn
    4. CTD on Inuit or Pueblo Nations' turn. CTD if I try to declare war on them. CTD if I call on my allies for help (Inuit is one of my allies). I believe the CTD is triggered by either of these nations going to war with anyone.
    5. Steam online.
    6. No
    7. Same bug existed prior to patch
    8. Q6600, 3GB RAM, NVIDIA 8800, Vista

Here are some links to other people reporting the same problem. The faction that triggers the CTD varies, though a Native American nation seems the usual problem:

I am also having sound issues with the new patch. It makes sense since CA did "general sound balancing" in the patch. But it seems what they've done is merely ruin the sound. The music is fine, but musket shots for example lag severely (from about 1-2 seconds to longer). Sometimes the battlefield ambience drops altogether for a little bit (not the music though).

I've disabled my mods and there not the problem so the problem is clearly with the patch. Did not have this problem pre-patch. It seems this sound problem is the main bug caused by this patch as many people are suffering it.

    1. (RTi4)
    2. US
    3. Any year, sometimes after battles sometimes flat out random
    4. CTD's, completely un reproducable, restart the game, can play past where I was crashing before and it will crash somewhere else.
    5. Steam online/offline.
    6. Campaign crashes were limited to maybe 1 an hour prior to patch, now they are happening about once ever few turns, frequently when entering/exiting a battle Naval or otherwise, or clicking something on the campaign map.

    Vista 64
    intel core i7 920
    6gb corsair dominator ddr3 1333
    MSI 9800GTX +
Creative SB Audigy 2(curious if this could possibly be an issue, it is a rather old SC, but Ive never experienced problems with other games)

    (1) Any battle
    (2) I get no sound at all during battles or very infrequent bursts of sound. The music has also gone from being something in the background to an extremely high level.
Coupled with that my battles now have a very low fps.
No issues like this prior to the patch and everything was running smoothly.
Memory leaks and gameplay bugs aside no previous issues following the previous patch.

    Core 2 duo E8500
    Vista 64 bit
    HIS Radeon 4870 X2 2 gig ddr5 (CAT 9.3)
    4gb Corsair @ 1333 mhz
    Creative X-Fi titanium fatality pro.

No mods installed ever and no overclocking. All drivers current on a well maintained machine.

Don't know if anyone knows but it's easy to solve the no saves problem. All you have to do is go into c drive and paste this C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR ACCOUNT NAME\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\save_games
Just change YOUR ACCOUNT NAME for whatever your steam account is called.
Now just delete the autosave file, should be top. Now it should work perfectly.
