Excessive CTD's.. Help appreciated

Hello fellow total war members! I am very much in love with the total war series, having played RTW, RTW:BI, MTW, M2TW, M2TWK, and of course... ETW!

But I am having an issue on Medieval 2 Total War and the expansion. Recently when I play any normal game (I.E. Americas Campaign) or any mod, like stainless steel for instance... the game just crashes to desktop when I end a turn. Then I tried making a new campaign game and it just took 5 minutes to load after I picked my faction and then clicked start, to then just crash to desktop without warning...

I would love to play this game and all the mods that I have for it, but every time I try it crashes to desktop!

Help would be much appreciated, I have tried everything, and yes I do have the latest version of the game and kingdoms expansion.

so this happens with both m2tw and the expansion? or just kingdoms? are u running vista? have u unpacked any files at any time??

Both. XP with the lastest updates / SP. System requirements on my rig aren't a problem, I am not sure what unpacking is.. Could somebody tell me?

What other games do you have installed? Do you have any dvd burning software installed?

dont worry about what unpacking is if u havent done it....doesnt matter then.

No I don't have any dvd burning software.. and the reason this sucks is because it worked about 2-3 hours ago and then it just started crashing to desktop everytime I clicked "Start Game" when starting a new campaign, either that or crashing when the "load bar" gets to the end when I try to load a game.

And yes, I haven't unpacked anything so that shouldn't be a problem.

Have you tried uninstalling ang reinstalling? Once in a while something goes bad and the only way is to reinstall. Question about other games is sometimes it takes this copy protection a while to catch up and I want to make sure it hasn't this time.
