Can we NOW use the Newest Nvidia drivers?

Hi all,

What do you say OR have experimented now with the new patch, Newest Nvidia drivers or Not?

I haven't tried the very newest (yet), but if it helps anyone out there, 182.06 is significantly the best Nvidia driver for me. Hardly any lag in the campaign map, pretty smooth. The other drivers I tried were much laggier in comparison.

I haven't got the latest patch yet if that makes a difference. too scared to reconnect to Steam anytime soon in case it 'updates' (ruins) my campaign! XP 32-bit here too. Good luck.

I've been messing around with the Nvidia drivers way too much to be worried anymore. I know that the 185.20 beta drivers allow my GTX280s to work in SLI mode without problems. Every other version has not worked - the game locks up usually.

I'm using 182.08 with my GTX 280 and am having no issues, but this game seems to be so machine picky as to be unreal! I kind of wonder what rigs CA used to develop this game that they didn't see all these compatibility problems coming. Didn't they at least beta test on a variety of different set ups? There have been glitches with their earlier games, but never as bad, or as universal, as those being experienced with Empire!

If you have Empire running with any drivers don't change them! Be grateful and let sleeping dogs lie.

I just downloaded latest nVidia drivers.
If I start encountering problems with ETW after I have installed them, I can always switch back to old drivers...

Tried various before the new hotfix (178.??, 181.22, 182.06, 182.46) but stayed away from the latest 182.08 as CA recommended. None seemed to make any difference to my CTDs.

So far (too early to come to any firm conclusions) after 6 hours play and 40 or so turns of a new campaign, things running well for me after the hotfix with the beta drivers 182.46. But we will see if that continues.

Would be nice to hear something in this regard from CA themselves since they were the ones warning in the first place about the un-tested latest Nvidia drivers to begin with.
