    Default Building forts

    This topic has probably been discussed before but.
    Why can I not build forts in America whereas in Europe I have ample opportunity at every circumstance that my men dig in.
    Does it depend on the team or is it just impossible for a European nation to build forts anywhere but Europe?

    As far as I know you can build forts anywhere that there's room. I think this excludes them from being built on roads/trade routes and near forests.

    Ah that explains why attempting to blockade a trade route with a fort didn't work.
