Reloading skill
I have been playing ETW over the course of a week now and I need this question answered. Is it possible to get my cannons to reload more quickly? I am asking this because it has gotten to the point where I don't want to use artillery on open battlefields because by the time I have reloded and shot up to 6 or 7 times the enemy has already gotten into combat with my line infantry and if I don't stop firing I will kill off my own troops. Artillery is very useful for it's desructive power but I would appreciate it if they could fire off more rounds before they begin to cause friendly fire. Any suggestions?
I have also noticed that artillery pieces take the longest out of any unit type to rank up.

Re: Reloading skill
Well it takes awhile to reload a full size cannon in real life, its not like modern artillery with breaches and auto-loaders, its a much more complex process, and being an artillery man was one of the hardest jobs of the day, often taking years to home your skill at the task in order to be able to hit your target properly, much like an archer.

Re: Reloading skill
I study history as a pass-time so yes you are right. What I am pointing out is that the game states that there is a way to improve reloading skill for the in-game artillery but I cannot find it out and I was wondering if someone new the answer for that.

Re: Reloading skill
yes, you can change the reloading skill to whatever you want, although ive only done it on infantry not cannon, but it should be the same nonetheless. open the patch.pack with the Pack File Manager, go to db, than find the unit_stats_land_tables and click on the file inside. the 27th column is titled reloading skill, set it to whatever you want.
as for more conventional, in-game techniques, all you can do is level them up.

OK that really is not what I meant. I don't want to mod the game because I like to play through games as they were meant to be played but thanks for the response anyway. Ranks have an effect on accuracy might they also affect the reload times.

Re: Reloading skill
Thanks for that.
I just tried a match with those tips and I was able to wipe out most of their force before they reached me. (It may also be nice to add that most of my artillery was completely destroyed or disbanded before they actually got to a rank more than 3)
