Default Cross and Crescent: Total War - The Modpack Compilation *NOW RECRUITING*

    Cross and Crescent: Total War

Over the past year and a half I have been compiling many of the best mods that the M2TW modding community has produced into one, major mod for my personal enjoyment. I have toyed with the idea of releasing this work, but the task of sifting through the files and attributing this code to that modder, and so on, has proved to be so daunting that I decided that I would keep it as a personal mod. Meanwhile, the mod grew, incorporating more and more content. Then I realized that the community as a whole deserved more credit that I did for the making of this work - it was mainly their work. That's when I decided that it was my responsibility to release this mod, for the good of the community. This mod contains content from many of the best mods on this site. I can't provide many screens yet, as I have not yet received replies back from many modders, and at this point it will be difficult to show much off without using work from some of those who have not replied. The good news is that I may be able to get a custom-battle-only, very stable open beta out in the next month or two, depending on how many persmissions I get. Anyway, without further ado, here is a breakdown of the mod compilation.

    Faction List

Thanks for your posts and suggestions, everyone.

Nakharar - You're right about the mod teams - many of the very big ones haven't replied to any PMs. I think I'll find a way around that. joedreck's skins combined with Candelarius' GUAM will make a great base to work off of, and, as for the rest, we'll see how it goes.

Pickle_mole - The mod has been in some form of development for a year and half now. Battles are almost completely stable. If I had gotten permissions from everyone, the mod could be uploaded this weekend. But some people aren't replying/have left TWC, which makes it a little more difficult, as I'm going to have to sort through every individual file and skin to ensure that they're all credited, and have all had permission granted by the author, no small task. Then I'll need to fill in some of the gaps, but hopefully, a release will come soon.

The Guy With No Imagination - Aragon lasted until the 1700s? Wow. I'm seriously considering it as a choice now. Only problem is that I'll need a stable mod willing to share files for Aragon. Thanks!

Just to let everyone know, the factions currently being considered for the unknown slot are:
    Aragon
    Kiev
    Khara-Khitai
    Seljuks
    Abbasids
    Makuria

Can you add Sultanate of Rum for the unknown faction? They were distinct from the Great Seljuks of the period I think...

Giorgios - The Turkish faction is the Sultanate of Rum - I'll rename them.
Nakharar - Sorry, Armenia won't be in as a major faction. But there will be Armenian Nakharars and Armenians of Cilicia as mercenary units.
    TheFirstONeill - Thanks a bunch.

Here is a preview of the campaign map. It is the Regions and Provinces map. The faction symbols are the work of the wonderfully talented MusculusMaximus. As you can see, the map is historically inaccurate - this is 1080. Although I will not be aiming for total historical accuracy, I plan to include a historical campaign and will provide help and support to historical accuracy submods.

I would say remove ireland, timurids, aztecs and wales and make 1 crusader faction so you have 5 slots left. + the 1 who is left makes 6 slots.

    - Zirids (faction in tunis) (prevent cristians storming North Africa and moors to be a push over would make Normans nice faction to play whit) (not many mods have it)
    - Aragorn (Balance france in the south, ilands, and Spain)
    - Serbia (makes sure byz, venice, hungarn cant take the balkons easy also represent orthodox power in the balkan)
    - Principility of galicia ( right of hungarn and poland would be a nice faction to present a orthodox faction in russia) (Not many mods have it)
    - Flanders or Friesland (Balance france, england, denmark and HRE)
    - Georgia, Caffa ?, ect Georgia to be the obstical in the caucasus caffa dont kow if it was independent then but reasons are clear

Think whit those factions map would be best at this space.

(whit aragorn in spain portugal can be removed for a faction like armania or bohemia)

NNOOO, can you make to campaigns, one with historical accuracy and one with the way yu planned it, that way yu cannad aragon, or maybe make it similar to ChivII sicilian vespers, that it has different ERAS so you can add different factions , and maybe SS will be willing to share their work for aragon,

PubliusKhanus - Since this mod will contain so much Kingdoms content, it will not be possible to release it for vanilla due to copyright issues.
Vlad IV Felix - Wallachia is a possibility, yes.
    trance - Sweden's a possibility.
firekiller - The point of this mod is to include all (non-Americas) Kingdoms content. So the only faction that may be removed at this point is Kwarezm. That being said, I like your idea of Flanders.
The Guy With No Imagination - Aragon is still a top contender for the remaining faction slot (along with the Abbasids). The only problem is getting art for Aragon - King Kong (the maker of SS) is apparently reading my PMs, but is not replying. Same story with most of the really huge mods out there, actually... As for the historical campaign, I'll need some help with research (especially family trees), but it'll get in there eventually.

It is a pitty that people who have already released mods for the public are not replying to your PMs - this mod will be something for the public, too.
What are they trying to prove? That they are the BEST?
In my humble opinion you are considered the BEST when you create something and then let EVERYONE use it.
I can't understand their way of thinking and such a behaviour will ruin their "reputation" after all.

    Just my thoughts

Here are a few screenshots to whet your appetite. No Orthodox factions (besides Byzantium) or Muslims (that includes Mongols) for now, as permissions are still being worked out on those, but I'm taking requests for screenshots now.
