[Poll] Did the March 25th patch work?

Has the March 25th patch worked for you? I am still having the end of turn crashes. Even a complete reinstall of Empire did nothing.

This is really getting pathetic. Time for me to start rating/ranking this game on some of the buy sites like Amazon. 3-4 weeks is MORE than enough time to get a patch out that should fix these types of hardware problems.

So i load up empire after the new patch has updated. i want to see if my saves for the first campaign i did work (before it would CTD everytime i clicked on them).

...but when i click on load there are no saves visible, the screen is greyed over, i cant click back, the map displayed on the left is just the americas and the flag displayed is afghanistan, bizzare.



i ctrl+alt+del out and start up empire again. this time i click continue campaign, it loads my latest campiagn fine. now when i click load from the campaign map menu i'm presented with an even more bizzare image: no saves shown, map is of the americas, flag is afghanistan, but where the picture of the faction leader is there is a funny looking, vaguely familiar man.



does anyone know why my saves arent there? i've checked the empire saves file and they are there but they dont appear on my game. and secondly can anyone tell me who is that guy in the portrait....

A friend of mine had a similar issue, and he had a lot of saves in his folder. You may want to go into your save folder and move all the filesh out but 3-5 or so and see if it'll work.

He had over 200, so if you've a number approximating that amount that may be the reason.

thanks, i'll try that but i dont know if it will do anything. i cut down the number of saves i had already, there only about 8 intotal.

Oh, you already tried and you've only eight? Sorry then. You should list everything you've already done when making a post about technical difficulties. If I'd known you'd done that I would not have made my post.

well actually i did it quite some time ago, maybe a couple ok weeks ago. so it didnt seem as though it would be relevant.

i removed the autosave file and found it seems to now be working.

I got the same problem sometimes my saves disappears ingame

Did not solve my problem: deleting the auto save that is.

I fixed that by saving a file ingame (new campaign) and after saving that, I went on my load button and found the saves again

C:\Documents and Settings\(user name)\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\save_games

if you cant find some of those files you've probably got hidden files turned on. to turn it off go to:

Tools > Folder Options > View ... and then look for "hidden files and folders" and "select show hidden files and folder"

however i noticed in game as soon as you click end turn it creates another autosave and therefor causes your saves to seemingly disapear again. to remedy this make a new save in game and this will cause your saves to reapear. mpcspeedy mentioned this above and seems and easier remedy than removing the autosave.

Pressing ctrl-s makes a quick-save, causing the saves to appear again for the moment.
On the campaign map anyway.

Try rebooting Windows before you play again and see if that makes a difference.

yeah its a bloody pain isnt it. not only has it done nothing to improve it, it has made it worse in some instances.

now i cant load ANY of my saves...

Introduced another CTD at the end of battle , played 2 battles now and both have resulted in a CTD

I've only played one battle, but it dragged to the end (that's the first time that happened) and when I got to the end of the hour it just locked up. I had to do a hard reboot. Not even a CTD.

Oh, one other thing I noticed, the duels don't stutter anymore - which was nice.
