Default Rank fire vs no drill?

    Hulloh!

I've read the discussions that compare different firing drills, but none of them has mentioned using no drill at all. What do your troops actually do if you have no firing drill at all researched, and how does it compare in terms of firepower to firing by rank?

I am preparing a detailed infantry guide.

No researched firing drill with 'Fire at Will' <T> enabled results in sporadic firing. Accuracy isn't bad, but the volume of shock is quite poor. Lines will face off for considerable time before breaking.

Firing with rank fire researched results in entire ranks firing at once. Accuracy is somewhat less, as it appears most shots are fired at chest or head height in most cases, but the shock is overwhelming often breaking less experienced troops morale by the third rank's volley.

Thanks for the info, does it also increase the rate of shots the line actually fires?

Rank fire decreases reload time by approximately 16 seconds.

I am testing and timing these differences slowly as I play the game.

I expect to have the guide complete tomorrow.

Fire by rank definitely increases the rape your line infantry can dole out. In my experience so far fighting the Native Americans, they break much sooner when faced with my lines.

Don't forget to include that fire at will also decreases the accuracy of a volley as well it seems.

Without Rank fire any ranks after the first don't fire at all.
I've already done some tests that have something to do with this at my thread called experimentation with closer range fire and artillery shell types.
it could be useful to you guys who are doing guides on these kinds of things.
