Default Video card cuts signal to monitor during naval battles.

No matter what settings I use in naval battles, a few minutes into a battle my monitor powers off and the game apparently freezes and I have to reboot my machine. I have never seen this before in a game, why would my monitor cut out all of a sudden? My specs are Vista 64 bit, Intel Core i7 920, 6 gigs of tri channel ram and a 9800 gtx+ running 181.22 drivers. I have also tried newer drivers and beta drivers all with the same result.

I seriously doubt your monitor turns itself off, more likely your video card stops responding (sending signal) and therefor the monitor turns itself off/standby mode.

I might be wrong ofcourse but i think you should search the problem with your video settings/drivers.

No overclocking error pop up when you reboot?

Sorry man, you are right, it's not my monitor powering off but the signal from my video card being cut out. Bad wording on my part. I do not get an overclocking error upon reboot and nothing on my rig is overclocked. Like I said I am using the 181.22 drivers, I have also tried the 182.06 drivers and the newer beta drivers all with the same result.

Yes, i have this failure too.

I had a ATI 2600 XT an i try a lot of things, to make Empire run without crashes in battles (not only in naval battles).

After all, i set down the resolution to 1024x768 and it works (but as ugly as Imperial Glory )

Now i upgraded to a ATI 4870 and all works fine with ultra settings, 8 x af and 4 x aa. Driver is the newest catalyst 9.3

Try to decrease the resolution, that should help you.

    Regards
