i was defending madrid from spain which i just took on the previous turn, they have 4 stack in the area and 2 of them were able to reach me in the turn. my make up was 12 almost destroyed line infantry, 4 artillery with 4 gun each, 1 general and a cavalry with just 6 horse remaining.

enemy consist of 1 general, 4 artillery, 7 cavalry and a hold load of infantry entirely fresh. madrid has a star fort so I figure there is no way i can hold the wall. i deploy the 16 guns facing the center flagpole and the infantry surrounding the garrisonable buildings but i don't garrison them. the idea was simple, to route any troop that dare stand in the center of the fort!

and so they came climbing the wall and opening the gate as the artillery work on the outer star wall. the infantry fire up ward as they climb down the stairs killing only 1 unlucky guy. the cavalry charge down the gate and is smack in the face with canister shot, instance route.

the rest of the battle is basically the same. with only a couple of cavelry charge and infantry returning fire. the AI cannot siege. and once the troop reach the middle, they freeze and can't shoot back!

i wish the AI would keep a few unit on the wall and shooting down, it seem to be the only time they manage to kill a couple of my men. imo, instead of the flag pole, they should make the seige end by capturing the main building. that would be harder to defend than an open field.
