Icon5 Question about my Quad core.

From some of the info I have seen on the fourms, I'm I to understand that ETW dose not use my full PC potential? If I am understanding this right. What are some things I can do till it is patched. to get better use of my PC?

The game isnt multithreaded, so it wont use multiple cores.

I'm begining to think game companys don't know how to program multithreaded software. (or are too lazy to do it).

I can count on one hand the number of multithreaded games.

As richardg has already stated, yes Empire is not designed to utilize all cores. Your pc is better than mine, and since you are getting a new card, the game should run well. Btw i just noticed you have 4gb with a vista32 bit. So i think you are wasting 1gb. ETW is very memory heavy game and could cause problems for you.

Yeah I put the 4gig in knowing I waould Loose a little bit as I know it best to install ram in groups of 2. and I just knew 2 gig just would not cut it.

After I get my GPU this wekk and my New HDD next week and finally my new Monitor to complete the build. I may then look at upgrading my vista to 64 bit

Google "Vista x32 4 gigs of ram" and you should find links to get all your memory with that version of Vista.

Whereas if they coded properly for even dual processors, you could count on both hands at the same time.

    Sorry.

I will never believe that until they actually release one and that it REALLY works. Until then, i think its pretty impossible to just make it utilize all cores out of the blue, with just few lines of code. I am pretty sure core utilization is hard coded. If not, then what is stopping better programmers to mod it to work for multi core. As far as i know, there are more talented coders/designers here than at CA.
