    Default Faction Leaders!

Ok. I just want to know if there is anyway to kill my own faction leader? For example say I didn't like having Carlos II for Spain could I just kill him after he has a kid that is old enough? Or maybe I had some other problems with a different monarch when I knew their could be a different leader instead.

Is there anyway to ASSURE that your faction leader will die. And die soon.

Send him into something he can't win. Charge him into pikes, park him within turrent range of a citadel. Move him into a city infiltrated by a really good assassin. Let a stray cannonball kill no one in his unit except him (That happened to my Saladin, my desk took a beating shortly afterwards)

The only way to do this is to have a revolution kill off your King, or have your President lose and election. To kill Carlos II, simply create a Nobility revolution in Spain. The revolution will replace Carlos II with another monarch, but will keep the Absolute Monarchy (make sure that the nobility are the ones that are angry, lower classes revolution = republic).

You can't control your faction leader on the battlefield, he just sits in your capital.

I understand why you want to remove Carlos II, you can not really have a worse monarch, and he is a pretty big liability since Absolute Monarchies double the effects of their monarchs.

making the nobility mad and overtaxing them will force the leader to abdicate and a new guy will be on the throne

I don't understand a king's effect on prestige; since prestige score only matters at the end of a campaign (with prestige victory conditions), why does a king who's going to die before the end of a campaign matter for purposes of prestige victory? If it works this way (and I'm uncertain if it does), wouldn't only the prestige rating of your king or queen at a campaign's end matter?

    Thanks in advance

A good King will give you a few prestige points per turn (the prestige rating is not calculated at the end of the game, it's accumulated during the campaign). If you're an Absolute Monarchy, all monarch traits and ancillaries are doubled in effect, so you can receive quite a lot of prestige from him.

So is the prestige score at the end of the game an average of your prestige score for each turn?

No, your faction leader and your Head of State can, if they're good enough, give you a certain number of prestige points each turn, most likely just 1 or 2 points. The buildings and technologies that says "Increases national prestige" each give a certain number of points when completed.

If, for example, your king gives you 1p per turn, that will mean 100 prestige points after 100 turns. Let's say that you during these 100 turns research technology that gives you 250p, as well as construct buildings that gives you 100p, your prestige ranking after those 100 will be 450. The points are thus earned during the game, and they are NOT calculated at the end of the campaign, or an average, or anything of that sort.

You cannot see how much prestige you will get from a technology or a building in-game, you'd have to look inside the game files. In-game it simply says "Increases national prestige" or whatever on their descriptions.

You can check how many prestige points you've earned in the campaign by pressing "M" and looking on the "Prestige" tab.

So for purposes of prestige points, what's the difference if you discover a new technology early on in the campaign or very late in the campaign?

None, it will still give you the same amount of points.

i know in M:TW 1 you were able to assassinate your own family members. Just put your leader in front of a firing enemy unit.
