    Default in game music

I'm just courious how many songs do you know from Empire? What are they about? My point is i'm listening to the R:TW soundtrack and I get flashbacks how I played Rome. I even get reminded when I hear the song that you listened during install. The music was done by Jeff Van Dyke and he's just awsome. Who did Empire? Don't know. Don't even care. In comparison to Rome music is just...absent!

I agree! The music from Rome and Medieval II is in a totally different class..

Always get flashbacks from great battles from medieval2 music, they were so memorable.

Good? I always turned it off anyway.

Can't remember any time I considered video game music memorable with the one possible exception of the original Deus Ex.

Rome was definatly the best TW soundtrack.

Empire's tracks sorta fit, but they aren't as awesome.

    I second this.

Empires soundtrack seems fine. They are very awesome to hear while in battle!

I'm not saying that the music in Empire is bad. It's just that Rome's is better! In Rome you had different ambiental music for some major factions. Playing as Egypt you were listening to diffrent songs then while playing Cathage. The battle music got me more involved in battles. And then there were speeches...

I think one of the reasons everyone's dissapointed in the ETW music score, is because the game is set in a period where many great composers lived and worked, and the game's music does in no way reflect the style of composition these people used in their work.

But that's where modders come in.

for me its mostly because i hear the same one or two songs whichever faction i play, theres no variety..

I like the soundtracks of rome, medieval 2 and empire. They are all quite good and fit the setting.

Something more epic makes sense in the time of rome considering that bravery, warriors and heroes still existed aplenty at this time.

Still, there are games with better music. the total war games have good music but some others have great music.

Jade Empire, Fable 1, Dungeon Siege 1, Medievil and Dungeon Keeper 1 all have music that truly grabs you by the throat and doesnt let go untill the end of the game.

Medieval 1 had the best soundtrack. Even though i love Empires main menu music. Its epic.

I must say I love the music during battles, but on the campaign map it all seems a bit dull to me music wise. Maybe some peeps like that but I would have liked a couple of songs like Vangelis - Conquest of Paradise (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYeDsa4Tw0c) in there.

I know I can just run it on my own music player and keep sounds turned off ingame but I like the music during battles.
