Does everyone else's game start moving like molasses uphill when you click on one of your fleets? I have a very good computer and still it chugs when I move a naval unit.

It's a global bug, they'll fix it.
On a related note, the ONLY crash I've ever had with ETW is from ships.
If I move a ship at all and then end my turn, *poof* CTD.
Yeah, Ca better get those bugs fixed because it's very annoying.
Yeah, my game only crashes when I select a large navy. Someone on the tech support forum said it's because late game, when you have a lot of speed increases, there's a lot of extra calculations to make for large fleets of different ships... and it's just too much. I hope it's fixed in the next patch.
Sometimes I live in the country.
Sometimes I live in the town.
Sometimes I get this great notion
To jump in the river and drown.
Pathfinding seems to slow down the game considerably. It also applies to land units - when you have a large empire and fast units, it can also take some time esp. later in the game.
It's even much more obvious with the huge distances navies can sail, of course.
Therefore I have sailed the seas and come

yeah, if I click a port it takes up to 30 seconds before I can move the naval unit out of it sometimes, times that by every single port in India and it really becomes frustrating.
I am also experiencing lag when choosing a fleet but then I got a crappy pc- i7 920 cpu, Radeon hd4870, 6gb ddr3 ram, p6t deluxe motherboard. Im going to upgrade to run empire properly
Empire isn't bugged, its just meant to be played on alien hardware not known to man!
I especially had this problem with the port on Curacao it somehow takes even longer than other ports and causes the occasional CTD. Why I dunno but it appears to be so.
As the finishing touch, God created the Dutch!
Try adding a sloop to your bugged fleets. This will reduce their movement range and sort out those CTDs... hopefully. Well, it worked for me.
I actually have slow speeds clicking on ports and selecing the navy tab. Very odd. Has nothing got to do with the movement on seas though.
My bro gets a CTD when he selects the 3rd big navy...
LOL! When I read this I was like "hey that sounds like me". And I checked username of this poster, it turns out to be my younger brother!
Yepz, I do get a CTD when I select my 3rd fleet. I also get new CTD's whenever I select my Steam Drydock at Gibraltar (south of Spain). I was constructing my 4th fleet consisting of 1st Rates etc.

Got that lag issue with the campaign map aswell. It occurs when I click on armies, cities, navies and harbours, not when I click on a small town though.
So far I have had 2 crashes in this game. Don't recall what I was doing, when the first one struck, but the second occured after following a cannonball in slowmotion into a house (the insert ability on the artillery crew). It was the final shot for that house, so I guess my PC couldn't handle the details, when a house is destroyed in slowmotion.![]()
R2TW stance: Ceterum autem censeo res publica delendam esse
my friends entire system reboots when two ships meet in combat.
only happens when somebody engages him or the other way around, not two AIs.
I get the slow reaction times when selecting ports and navies too though.
Yeh i seam to get this problem even when I can run 6k men battles on full settings without lag, that CTD thing sounds like a big prob.
Same happens to me. I have a 10 ship fleet wasting money in the Caribbean but I can't get rid of it cos I CTD as soon as I click on it.
