I think, it is ottoman empire... because in 18th century, ottoman empire losing their prestige... if you play with ottoman empire, you should rescue it...

Central European ones are interesting as you are at war with quite a few people, and you must protect every borders, unlike France where it is only the north, Sweden with east and west, and Maratha where you only have a few ennemies in the beggining.

All factions are way too easy so I don't care much. I prefere countries a bit more to the south as I hate battles in the snow.
Prussia![]()
United Provinces...i find quite enjoyable.
Same here!
Playing on hard and I'm having a blast. Still early in the game, but I have managed to take Stockholm because the Swedes were busy fighting the Danes, and just got attacked by the neighboring minor nation thats allied with Poland-Lithuania. Money is running low so key battles lost will set me back quite a bit.
Playing as UK was probably the most boring campaign in any game ever. I never got attacked by anyone, and I just swarmed my way through all of North America and most of Europe.
lol
Russia
I started out with russia but soon got bored when Sweden & Poland fell quite quickly. Found their naval capacity was limited / later in game, and they mainly play in one war theatre (europe).
Dutch
To increase the experience with naval war & war in colonies, I choose the dutch next. They keep me well entertained on both levels. Not sure on who to tackle first though after I removed the pirates from american scene and started attacking in india with difficult victory. Will I first attack the French or the Spanish ? Still deciding on what option's best, or that both will ally against me in war.
What's next ?
Not sure on what nation to take after I finished this campaign. Playing with idea to play next either the indians or barbary states (option of naval strategy).
hmm... probably spain..... I love me some carlos II.....

Knights of Malta, because they have by far the worst, most worthless capitol.
E:TW's natives have developed a new "Ballistic Automatic Detection And Seeking System" to utterly annihilate any European that sets foot on their soil... That's BADASS for short!
I agree... from the crappiest little kingdom of st. John to the ruler of hole india and Tunis... thats hard
if any of you think this game is easy try a unplayable faction as st. john and you will get challenged
cant remember correctly but very little... i have it now in the year of 1754 to earn just under 400
you got a port and about 1-2 turns after start your port is blokaded by the barbary states you got very few units and about 4-5 ships..

if there is too much poverty in a sociaty, lower the poverty line... my qoutes... comment them if you will...
'Interesting' is subjective
But in any game like this, be it TW or EU III or HOI, etc, powers with far flung Empires that rely on transporting troops and naval power are almost the more interesting ones I think. Usually the UK or France, etc.
Ah, but he asked which is the most entertaining, not interesting!
I would have to say the most entertaining is Great Britain. Their BBC produced such great shows as Blackadder (1-4), Red Dwarf and Fawlty Towers....oh wait, no TV for over another 100 years. Then I'd have to go with a mod that lets you play Bavaria. Nothing entertains like a chocolate eating, lederhosen wearing yodeler.
Seriously though, I find the Maratha Confederation interesting, because as you move north, you have a mixture of Hinduism, Islam, Orthodox and occasionally Catholicism and Protestantism to deal with, along with moving armies through a space that wraps from one map to another. The downside is the lack of naval invasions makes it rather too easy until you move into Europe and start butting heads there, and by this time, you are a fairly sizable empire.
Wow ! I havent heard of Fawlty Towers for 20 years now ! My english teacher used to show us that TV show to learn english when we where 10 ... needless to say we couldnt understand anything ...
Anyway, i'd say that Prussia and GB are the most entertaining imho : prussia because you start out weak with the potential to carve a powerfull empire. GB because it's the strongest faction in game and can easyly conquer the world.
Out of the major ones, the ottomans seem the most entertaining, they get 3 generations of line infantry and alot of unique or less common units. You really get a sense that your armies are drafted from all over a multicultural empire.
The last time i played i got my ass handed to me as everyone of my neighbours were at war with me within 2 turns of each other.
Italian States are quite interesting -- it's minor faction, but with a 'full size' city so you can do military research; lots of factions nearby to fight or ally with, the goal of unifiying Italy, and also the possibility of sending trade fleets out and even starting a colony...
