Default How do I change the government?

I tried having a revolution but it only changed the president, how do I change a republican government to something else?

If you piss off the poor people a revolution will occur. Pissing off nobles will cause the monarchy to change. I think.

What kind of government exactly are you looking for? There's only 3. Absolute Monarchy, Constitutional Monarchy, and Republic. Piss off Meter: Nobles=Constitutional Monarchy, Peasants=Republic. I dont think its possible to change back to an Absolute Monarchy if you've switched or dont start with it.

If you want to get an Absolute monarchy, piss off the nobles again while you're in constitutional.

had the same problem, nobility just wouldnt revolt, heres what i did:
demolish every building in london and the surrounding areas that adds to happiness. kick any ministers that have multiple traits that add happiness to nobility. increase taxes to the max.(obviously..) and ofc pull out all your troops and station them in the countryside. that way you will get a revolt alltough it may take a little while.
researching all philosophy techs also helps quite a bit.

I wish they would make the change to a constitutional monarchy easier.

Hopefully they can implement a button somewhere to request the monarch to change to constitutional. However, the may be a chance, the monarch may refuse thus a civil war will be fought.

As each type you have two of the three classes of people. Upper, Middle & Lower Class. A rebellion in each of these classes gives different results.

    i) Upper Classs = Absolute Monarchy
ii) Middle Class = Consitutional Monarcy
    iii) Lower Class = Republic

Lower Class is present in all three systems. Upper Class appears in both Monarchies and Middle Class replaces it in a Republic. So, if you are a republic and get a Lower Class revolution, you're goverment won't change. But if you get a Middle Class revolution you'll get a Constitional Monarchy. If you then want to change to an Absolute Monarchy, you'll then need to provoke an Upper Class revolution.

Revolution should either come about automatically at a certain point (enough unhappiness etc.) or else be optional for the player. It is ridiculous all these gamey things one has to do to bring a revolution about. Demolishing buildings... Raising taxes here and lowering them there...

I have all this unhappiness in my periphery playing as Sweden, I would like a change to Constitutional Monarchy but the capital is happy as can be. Making it revolt seems quite uphill to me.
