Of broadswords and highlanders
So then has anyone gone about to give the highlanders(Black Watch)their trademark broadswords rather than the bayonet as is proper yet??also,has their been any movement on supplying the lancer units with sabers as their secondary weapon??for some reason I am having a hell of a time doing this,wondering if anyone else has seen success

Re: Of broadswords and highlanders
I've given bayonets to ferguson rifleman -- same idea.
The two things you would need to change for say... the Blackwatch, first set;
MeleeWeaponIDRef - sword
and then the second unknown column after defense should be set to;
Unkown - foot_sword
This should make it so that when your Blackwatch are told to go melee, they should switch to the standard straight sword (which a new sword could be modeled, and created as a custom weapon and given to them, if you had a specific look you were going for.)

Hope this helps! Let me know!

Re: Of broadswords and highlanders
You will have to find the stats of the Clansmen then copy them and replace those of the regular highlanders, i think they will have the sword and buckle of the Clansmen

Re: Of broadswords and highlanders
This is actually defined by the warscape equipment.
You can even create custom ones in the warscape_equipement_themes_table.
In this file you can can choose the ranged weapon model, the melee weapon model and the various equipments like bag etc...
You can find a list of all items in the item table.
take care to have a combat style that match with the equipement (man_musket_sabre seems good for you).
Have fun.
Edit: those are only the models, so if you choose a claymore in place of the ranged weapon, they'll fire with it since that's in the projectil ID that you define the thrue way of firing.

thanx for the insight.I will give it another go and see what transpires,I am really just looking to replace the melee weapon with a sword vs the bayonet they currently use,seems this should be the answer
alright....I see my issue.I am still not able to get this to work even after using the easy instructions that have been so graciously provided,and i see why...for some reason everytime I change the value of foot_bayonet to foot_sword and save the file,it reverts back to foot_bayonet.all other changes are kept save for this one.any ideas as to why??
